I know just a very little bit about the island of St. Croix - My family and I will be there in late October & Early November and was looking for some info on Jack's Bay - Isaac's Bay and Ha Penny. From what I've read it sounds like it takes a pretty strong effort to get to these beaches. We won't mind the trek if it's worth it - they all look and sound like great beaches, but I just can't tell from the pictures on the web. Shoy's beach is our favorite (o/k really it's Buck Island) but we would like to check out new beaches for swimming and snorkling

Any info - good or bad is greatly appreciated

Steve

I believe Half Penny may be closed due to erosion. It is easy to get to by a dirt road. Issac Bay and Jack Bay are beautiful and usually deserted. They are accessed by fairly easy trails. If you can do major hiking, Annaly Bay and Wills Bay have tidal pools. Also, Ham Bay has pools and is accessible right off the road.

I grew up in Massillon and lived in Cleveland for a while. I visited Cincinnati about a year ago and had a great time. The view from the Carew Tower is great.

The other beaches are in the northwest forest. If you're visiting Frederiksted, Ham Bay is definitely worth visiting. Just drive north out of town on the main road and go about five miles. There will be an old Danish stone gate post on either side of the road about a half mile before the beach. The beach is right before the end of the road, which is the National Guard office. There is the ruins of a greathouse just off the beach. You can also climb up to the lighthouse for a fantastic view. The path is by the coconut trees behind the Guard office.

If you go to the Carambola Resort, they will show you the path to the other two beaches.
