I was searching for the other post were a member of this forum (sorry, forget who) talked about being in the pre-vacation warp where time slows down as you count down in the final 5 days.

That poster saw the warp from the perspective of slowing down.

My warp has the opposite effect - it speeds up.

Today, I entered the "3 DAYs and a wake up - and you don't have the first thing packed, laundry not done, not sure if anything needs to be bought cus I haven't checked, where are the swimsuits?, will the swimsuit fit?, etc, etc, etc.

Imagine me walking around my house checking on all of that - but going as fast as a tape on fast forward.

Then a bell rings and a voice says "ready or not ---->here you go!" and poof, I'm on a plane and don't know how i got there.

At that point, the warp ends and I'm officially on vacation....

and i order a drink from the flight attendant - yes, at 9am!

Blu,
This surprises me because I thought you were the one that put your island agenda/schedule on Excel! 🙂

Our motto is...order a drink on the plane always...and maybe two~ Whatever you forgot, except for prescriptions, you can buy when you get there, and don't worry, be happy mon! 🙂

Tuesday afternoon cannot get here fast enough for me! The days have been dragging by - except for today I'm starting to feel the pressure, haven't packed or even looked for my mask and snorkel. I did get the required pedicure though yesterday - I think I picked the wrong color - almost a dayglo pink. Hopefully, not too many fish will think my toes are food and start nibbling.

C Urchin 😀

dntw8up, enjoy!! Can't wait for my turn(s)!

Islandhopper, Yes, I have the STT itinerary all mapped out. Problem is with what i need to do in order to get myself, children and bags to STT. I seem to have warped past that planning 🙁 Starting now.

This board does get you pumped -especially after those amazing photos.

CUrchin, will we recognize you from your fluorescent toes?

Blu,
You grew up on STJ...right?

Remember your childhood days and begin to relax...your family looks like they are old enough to know what to pack and how to relax in you homeland.

I really want to hear that YOU enjoyed yourself!!! YOU deserve it..girlfriend!

Hello group, I'm in that phase now, I leave Sat. at 4am, will be in STT at 3pm, and here I sit, not a thing packed, laundry in progress, and I'm checking the forum one more time. Certainly don't want to miss a post for heavens sakes. Really looking forward to Wednesday night and meeting my forum sisters. I won't sleep a wink.
Guess I better start packing. To all...have a safe travel..

I leave July 12 for STJ, ehh I guess about 3 weeks. Im super excited, but the packing always with me comes at the last minute. Dont ask me why, havent a clue. I think I do more relaxing than getting things done LOL.. The way I look at it is, if it gets packed it gets packed if not well thats less I have to carry.

EaglesLanded, I did live on STT for several years as a child - on two separate moves down. My parents were like the people on this forum: addicted to the islands. Those were good days - steep drum pactice after school, weekend trips to Jost, riding our skateboards down the cement water catchment..... I do relax when I think of those days.

Sleeper and Destiny, you're in the warp with me. So close now...(I think Sleeper is on her way now - safe travels!!)

CoCo, I like your theory that if you forget to pack something, that's less you'll have to carry.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday.

Our gang arrives STJ 7/24 for a full week. This will be our 19th year in a row with various family and friends. I try not to think about it until about a week before, although I dream about St John from time to time.

Did anyone catch any of the the sales American had last week? From DFW and IAH it was only $269.00 roundtrip to STT! That's about as low as it gets from here.

I still dread seeing the security fence/gate on the dock at Cruz Bay and the sight of the condo construction is a bummer as well and the Subway across from Woody's. Sometimes I fear what has made St John so special for us all these years is slowly slipping away. It was a glorious time when the Wendy's closed many years ago and I pray that no more fast food places will ever open. I do miss the the Hard Rock in St Thomas, however, and they recently closed the one here in Dallas.

Can't wait...

Which brings up a good point....what can us mainlanders do to "give back" to the USVI for all the enjoyment they've given us?

Wendys, Subway, yuk! Our town just broke ground on its 3rd Walmart! 🙁

Eagles...maybe pick up some trash left by people who have no respect at all? I don't mean this in a bad way at all. It's universal. So next time think! Take what you bring to any beach or anywhere else and bring some other peoples trash back too.

Connie,
Great idea! Trash on the road is unsightly...etc. We love to hike, so a garbage bag will be in tote~! Thanks.
