Thank you, you are so helpful to everyone. What do you think about the ferry from Tortola to Virgin Gorda? Should we book the cruise tour to the Baths or catch the ferry ourselves? Also what about Jost Van Dyke? Do we have time for both in 7-8 hours, or should we skip the Baths and visit Jost Van Dyke and Tortola beaches such as Smugglers, Cane and Brewers Bay? Thanks!

Quite honestly, the only way to cover all that ground would be in a private go-fast boat, and you would be exhausted! Yes, you can take the ferry to Virgin Gorda and a taxi to the Baths. That would be a great way to spend your day, in fact. Or take an island tour of Tortola and visit several of the beaches. There are day boats from Roadtown, I am sure, but don't know much about them. You might check on the Internet. Going to JVD would be a little harder- taxi to West End and ferry, or Taxi to Cane Garden Bay and day trip...I would pick a smaller focus and come back for a longer visit to see the rest1

Hello llarsen,

Are you visiting on a cruise ship to the USVI or the BVI - which is your port of call? I am assuming Tortola since that is where you referenced the ferry from. The Baths and Virgin Gorda are really neat and pretty. I don't think you could get to all the places you listed in one enjoyable day - as East Ender said. Pick the one that seems the most enjoyable to you and do that.

We will be on cruise ship out of San Juan, visiting St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Tortola, St. Lucia and Barbados. We've never been to Tortola or St. Maarten. We visited St. John last April and saw the most beautiful beaches we've ever seen. It's the white sand beaches that we enjoy the most. We will probably go to St. John again on this trip and maybe try and squeeze in Corki or Sapphire (which we've never seen). I think we will take the ferry to The Baths ourselves from Tortola rather than go with the cruise tour. We were just worried the ferry would be sold out to cruise ship tours.
Thanks for all your posts, I love reading them.

Hello llarsen,

Sounds like a great cruise. You can visit St. John on your St. Thomas stop and then take the ferry from St. John to Red Hook and take a taxi from Red Hook dock to Sapphire Beach for a little bit or Coki and then from there to cruise ship docks. Sounds like a great day. I am not familiar with the Tortola-Virgin Gorda ferries... The ferries in the USVI you don't pre-reserve and the cruise excursions have their own vessels in most cases and they run pretty frequently.

Have a great time. And you are welcome!!

llarsen,

Depending on which days of the week...you can take a ferry from ST John to JVD.
Only runs Friday, Sat. and Sunday leaves Cruz Bay at 8:30 am arriving JVD around 9:30 and picks you up at 3:00 pm.
