I was looking into taking the island ferry but am unable to find information on what to do when I get to JVD. I would like to walk to White Bay. Anyone walked this before? Easy? How far? Thanks.

The walk to white bay would be very hilly and not the most pleasant of walks with no shade on concrete. I wouldn't want to attempt it myself. Typically there is a taxi at the dock that will take you to white bay for only 1 or 2 dollars.

I agree, the hike to White Bay is very hilly; take Bun's taxi service from the dock. They greet just about every ferry arrival. Visit Foxy's first, just so you can say you've been there, then go on over to White Bay. One of the nicest beaches in the USVI & BVI. ENJOY!

Thanks for the replys! I will consider the stop at Foxy's first. I have read about the natural whirlpool, is that close to Foxy's?

The "bubbly pool" is close to Foxy's other location, Foxy's Taboo. Its about a 10 - 15 minute hike from there.

there are 2 Foxy's locations on Jost -- the original one near the ferry dock and, as Cliff noted, Foxy's Taboo (more "upscale"), farther away & somewhat isolated. The bubbly pool is near Taboo. Given the ferry schedule you'll probably have a limited amount of time on Jost. You may want to visit the original Foxy's for the experience and then spend the majority of your time at White Bay.

Here's our perfect day when we last went to JVD on the ferry.

Take a taxi to Ivan's Stress Free Bar. Very low key - just relax and enjoy the incredible BVI waters. Do be sure to say hello to Ivan - he's very genuine and friendly (in a quiet sort of way). When you're ready, have them make you a Bananawacker - SO good. Be careful - they pack a punch. We had lunch at Ivan's (cheeseburgers and fries) and it was really great (and cheap). Spend as much time there as you'd like then take the short hike over the hill to Soggy Dollar Bar. There are shops and bars all up-and-down the beachfront. Again - just relax - that's the best part of JVD!

Leave enough time to visit Foxy's. Maybe around 1:30 take a taxi over there. He's got a nice shop and excellent drinks. Foxy is usually hanging around and he's quiet the jokester. Always a smile for his guests. Sometimes there's music playing - other times just quiet. Very shady area to cool off after a day in the sun. Foxy's is really to be enjoyed in the evening with live music and the BBQ Buffet. Plan on overnight sometime and take advantage of a great meal and fun there.

You can walk back to the ferry dock from Foxy's. DON'T BE LATE for the ferry - the load and take-off very quickly and while they may be late, if you aren't there when they get there - you'll be left behind (could be worse places to be stranded!).

Good Luck! Have Fun!
