Wondering if "Straight Talk" is in the VI? Yes, I've done the research on their site but the info is sketchy. Coverage map not zoomable enough to see the VI and they say "no" in their FAQ but sometimes info like that is incorrect cuz old and coverage increases all the time. (ST is thru Wal-Mart and a subsidiary of TracFone) Just hoping. Is ST there? Thanks for your help.

Never heard of it! Biggest carrier is ATT followed by Sprint. Best bet is to buy an inexpensive go-phone to use here.

They sell TracFones @ Radio Shack.
Maybe they can answer your question or call AT&T to find out.

No Straight Talk here, because no WalMART. Not sure if VI is included in their coverage map, but I think tracfone leases on other networks, but you may have to roam.

Or simply use your same cell phone as home. Sprint works just fine. No extra charges. But be careful, especially on the north side of stj. Mke sure phoe doesn't go in roam and pick up a bvi tower.

I have straight talk, and I was able to get on when was on island in June. I was on St John, and reception was spotty on certain portions of the island, but reception was good in town. There's probably pretty good reception on St Thomas.

We are on St. John right now and using our straight talk phones. Reception is so-so, but much better than we hoped. I can call the mainland and anyone can call me, but I cannot make a local call here. When I try to make a call I get a message saying that I don't have enough credit to complete the call and to please log into my account. Maybe if I add an international card it might work, but I do not know.

Was just there in Oct 2015 and my Straight Talk iPhone worked just fine. I have a 5S that connects to the AT&T network and had an LTE connection all over St Thomas. Went to Cruz Bay, St John and had good coverage there, but can't say how the coverage was on the rest of the island. Oddly, I had coverage going to West End, Tortola until I got about 100 yards away from the docks at the ferry terminal.
BTW, don't go to Tortola!

The only deficiency was Google Maps. It would show your location and destination, but didn't give any enroute info or audio prompts to turn right, turn left etc

If you pick up the Tortola tower, you'll be shocked when you get your next bill. Always check the provider on phone if on east end of STJ.

No it doesn't. I was there in Dec 2020 and have the 45 dollar plan. When landed the phone couldn't make calls. I have a Samsung J7. Restarted the phone and still couldn't make any calls. Maybe if i visit again I will purchase the international package. Very frustrating.
