Sorry if this is off topic a bit, but has anyone stayed on Tortola Island, at Cane Garden Bay. I found a website with good photos, here.

Just wondering if anyone has been on Tortola? It looks nice.

Spend a little while there back in August on a day-trip. I thought it was beautiful. The beach was nice and the water was calm and very nice. Also, as a Parrothead, it's a good place to connect with one's roots. There's a lot of Buffett history there.

If you go, get them to open up the Callwood's Distillery for some of their crazy rum

Before I settled on the usvi, I was able to spend several weeks on several occasions at Cane Garden Bay. It is a quintessential Caribbean Beach. It is active, full of life and not too over developed.
The buildings there are all a lowrise, somewhat quixotic mix of villas and small resorts (well not resorts so much as bed&breakfast like places.

There are several wonderful beach bars that you can enjoy both day and night. Cane Garden Bay is a favorite anchorage for the "bareboat" charterers who dominate BVI tourism. I often wonder if they know not to flush their "heads" while anchored. (same problem in the usvi).

Yes it is one the the great places in the Caribbean, but it to is being overrun (like St John) with American tourists.

I'm not being mean but I have to laugh at that. STJ is, afterall, kinda a part of the USA. One could expect Americans there.

That said, I know what you mean. I try to act like I'm from some un-named country when I travel.
