Just curious how many Iowans are out there on this forum?

Hawk64, I know you are there because you asked about Iowa on the sticky thread up above. Sorry I didn't reply there, but I did not want to hijack that thread.

My wife and I will be staying on St.John in June. This will be our first trip to the Virgin Islands, (or practically anywhere else for that matter!), so we are counting the days like kids at Christmas. We are both from Dubuque, although we lived away for 5 years or so.

Who else is out there from Iowa, and how long have you been going to the Virgin Islands?

Joe

Hi....just a heads up, we flew Delta out of Moline in March, had our trip booked since last fall and the week before travel they called and said we didn't have enough time between planes coming back from Stt to Atl and could she connect us to Hotels.com. Since we were using flyer miles we decided to go Airtran back to Moline and just pay for the tickets, too much hassel to get a room & stay over. I don't like Delta it seemed like a really old plane and not even a crummy sack lunch. We were able to grab a sandwich at one of the prepackaged deli areas at Atl airport, they seem to be all over the airport.

Coming back we were sitting on the tarmac in Stt , & the pilot comes on the intercom with the usual weather report, pollen count in Atl, and arrival time. We sat there for a few minutes and he comes back on , Folks we have a really full heavy load today and the FAA won't let us take off over the mountains, so we have to go out over the sea, it will be just a few minutes to let incoming planes land. Right there I was sorry I didn't have several Bushwackers at the airport!! You could hear a pin drop as we all looked around to see who might have gone over their limit of duty free liquor! Did he HAVE to say that?

Hi Joe,

Count me in as one of the lucky from Iowa. Believe it or not I am also from Dubuque. We moved back last year and are now living in my old neighborhood on South Grandview. We have traveled to the caribean every spring for the last 6 years. We love it so much that we purchased a villa on Pineapple beach on St. Thomas. My husband and I plan on taking the kids down there for a month or so this summer.

Hi. I'm Hawk's wife and I'm actually from the Dubuque area. I grew up in Cascade and Dyersville. I almost had Hawk talked into not leaving St. john this past visit just a week and a half ago!!! 🙂

***Most definitely do Miss Lucy's in Coral Bay for the famous Sunday brunch. It was decadent! We love Francis Bay.....Solomon and Honeymoon Beach are our favorites, as well! True beaches!

I'm from the IL QC's originally, but lived in IC for 8 years (extended BA program). We now live in KC, and are heading to STT on 5/25 - 6/02 for our fourth trip to the VI. Any other Hawkeyes going to be down during that time, email me and the first painkiller is on me.

Cheers!
