I have stayed at Tamarind over the years. The last time I stayed (12/2002), I stayed in the least expensive room with a bathroom down the hall and it was awful!! The place needs a major overhaul. They need to actually buy some sheets. I believe the place has sold in the last year or so and may be better now. You should inquire when the place was last updated. On the plus side: The complimentary breakfast at Tamarind is good. The bar is charming and festive and sometimes has good local music. Two places I stayed in recently that worked out well: St. John Inn and Garden by the Sea.

It was bought by the people from St. John Inn. They have been updating the rooms and have raised their prices accordingly!
