This may be too late, as we're coming on april 1, but are there any type of immunizations one should consider before coming to St John? (Other than the normal things we would get anywhere.)

Our island near Vancouver BC requires an evac via helicopter in the event of an emergency as there is no hospital here, just an ambulance station. What happens on St. John? Is there a hospital, or do folks get sent somehow to St Thomas? (Yes, we bought emergency travel health insurance!)

No immunization needed 🙂 (made me smile just at the thought) We do have ambulances and the St John Rescue should you need transportation in the event of an accident, along with the clinic with fully staffed Doc's and medical staff. If it is serious ie: appendix etc there is the hospital on St Thomas and we have the "emergency" ferry that takes you over so you don't have to wait on the people ferry. My husband had emergency surgery the day after we moved to ST John and the surgeon on STT was fabulous. Relax you will have a wonderful time.
