All beaches in the VI are open to the public and there's no entrance fee except at Magens and Smith Bay Park.

STT Resident is right about all beaches being open to the public, including those that have resort properties attached. At one time there was an affiliation between the two Bluebeard's properties, but that no longer exists. Guests staying at Bluebeard's Castle are welcome to Limetree Beach at Bluebeard's Beach Club, but would not be free to use any of the resort amenities, such as the pool, tennis, or lounge chairs, which are reserved for Beach Club guests. I do believe, however, that for a fee you would be permitted to use a beach lounge chair.

Most of the beaches have rental chairs so no worries there. Just to be sure, you do realize that the Bluebeards Castle Villas and the Bluebeards Beach Club properties aren't close to each other? It'll take you about 10-15 minutes by car depending on traffic in the busy Havensight area, and the taxi fare will be around $7 per person each way. Don't want you to think that it's within walking distance!

But the views are incredible! And, you'll be more inclined to visit other beaches since you won't have one at your doorstep. Most of the other VI beaches are nicer than Bluebeard's.

Lime tree beach is very nice. I for one am glad that it does not receive the same hype as Sapphire and Cokki. Keeps the crowds at bay.

i think ill have to bring (if i can fit it) or buy a small umbrella there for the baby.

Limetree beach is the beach at the Bluebeards Beach Club and, as mentioned earlier, is about a 15 minute drive from the Bluebeard's villas. Gerie (who stays there every year) believes you can rent if you're not a guest - common on most resort beaches. Unless you have a particular hankering to go to Limetree, I would drive over to Magens Bay. The calm waters there are perfect for a small child, there are full well-kept facilities right there (including a beach bar and restaurant) and plenty of shade under the trees.

How old is the baby? This is what I remember about taking my "babies" (now in college) to the beach:

1) Gallon jug of water. Rise baby/toddler before placing in car seat., so you don't transfer a sandy sleeping baby from car to crib.

2) Change of clothes. Bring a extra clean T-shirt for the car ride home.

3) Brimmed hat with chin strap, Tiny -rash gard (available sorting goods stores)

4) Nesting buckets.

5) soft sided lunch box cooler with snacks and 2-3 full sipy cups( beach restaurants are too greasy for kids)

6) Hit the beach early 8:00 to 11:00 before full sun.

7) Bing toys to restaurants. The wait is always long.

8) Be careful of napping baby on the sand --ants, no-see-ums.

9) Serest harbor, Magens, Pool at Sapphire has a shallow-end which is nice for pre-schoolers.

10) I never used used an umbrella (more to carry), just found shade.

11) Take lots of pictures. Enjoy your little one!

Probably the closest beach To BBC is Morning Star a Frenchmans Reef.--can see "wave action" if the conditions are correct.

Next, would be Lime Tree which faces the same general dirrection as Morning Star so cn be a bit wavy and like morning star the drop is noticable. But Lime tree is much much much less crowded. Lots of shade. A very nice beach in all.

Does limetree have chairs to rent?

Don't know. But I would assume that for price anything is possible. They do have a "water sports hut". Call and ask.

Limetree doesn't get many off-site visitors, so I doubt that they have a formal chair rental policy. Most of the recommended beaches do have chair rentals, though, so you won't have a problem finding a good beach with chairs. There's also natural shade at most of the beaches, so most people don't need an umbrella especially if they get there early.

That's a GREAT Beach w/Baby list. I hope your "kids" appreciate what a smart mother they have!

so excited i just bought a portabrella - an umbrella that collapses to only 2 foot but has a 72" span! will be perfect for our trips. We really need to keep our blond haired blued eyed toddler out of the sun!

You're welcome, and I'm going to look up portabrella. I may need it for the jazz cruise I'm going on in Oct. Lots of onboard concerts will be outdoors on the Lido Deck, so I may need to bring my own shade.
