I am a photographer visiting St Thomas from April 30-May 7th..
I am a glamour/styled photographer bringing 2 models with me to shoot for magazines and print adds
all week, and need help locating a beach that would allow for me to get the best sunsets
while calm enough for where i could set lighting stands in the water to get the proper lighting
this is an example of the work i do and what I need

I am staying on the eastern side of the island at a Wyndham resort
any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Chris

One photographer has used Brewer's Beach for his sunset shot, so maybe that will work for you. Honeymoon Beach on Water Island may also work. Emerald Beach/Lindbergh Bay faces west, but I think the hill keeps you from seeing the entire sunset. Maybe somebody else will comment.

I was browsing the beaches actually a bit
Little Magens looks like a great candidate except of its remotenes and how hard it would be to get there
Read about Brewers Beach.....

Really can't leave the island as there are no ferries back to St Thomas after sunset from what I noticed..

Check the Water Island ferry schedule on this website. It looks like they have late night runs a few nights a week, and you can always schedule a private run. I think the phone number is on the site.

Some of the STJ beaches have good Westerly sunset views and they do have ferries at night.
Little Magens is OK but the sun often sets over the western hilly peninsula and carrying big things down to that beach will require a sherpa or 2.
The time of year also makes a difference from some locations.

Secret Harbour beach has some great sunsets but since you seem to be looking for a mountain free background, use the map to go to a western facing beach and get there early!

Chris, nice work. I will be on st johns between the 28th and the 4th. If you need an assistant, and I have some time, perhaps I can help in some way? Not asking to shoot your subjects, maybe an opportunity to learn? Respond to this post if interested.

Good luck,
Dave

St John to St Thomas last ferry is at 11:00PM, so you were misinformed. Little Magens won't have a lot of Sunset this time of year...Brewers or Water island are probably the best on STT right now for Sunsets

If you can convince the guards at the gate at Botany Bay that they are required to allow Public Access that would be the place to go for sunset and remote photos.
