i hate usair/america west.
i have an unused America West ticket worth $280 that i have to use before Sept 1. I called the customer service number to usairway, because online...america west doesn't exist anymore. I reached the Indian rep with a thick accent. She said i had to call america west. gave me the number , i called and it said "thank you for callilng Usair..." huh?
Anyway, i reached a rep. I knew the exact flight i wanted and gave them the quoted price online for $326.
She tells me that the price she has for that same flight is 580. WTF?? So if i pay the change fee plus the price they want. I might as well fly a different airline for a lower price.
THEY ARE RIPPING US OFF AND I HOPE THEY ALL GO BANKRUPT. sorry for being mean, but it pisses me off that big company can get away with this crap.
If they go bankrupt, that'll be another loss to the competitive field and the others will raise their fares because we'll have less options.
Sorry about your experience. I've had troubles with them, too. So have many others on this forum. Welcome to the club 🙁
After this forum has discussed such things in great detail, I believe the answer would have been to call the ticket counter agent or go to the airport and you would have been likely to have the $326 fare honored there. I definitely wouldn't have paid the $580 fare without a few days of trying other methods, especially knowing that the $326 fare is out there. If you click back to last week's discussions (maybe page 2 or 3) you'll see that we have a long thread on this very issue with USAir.
Another hint : Whatever you do, don't waste your $ by upgradig to first class with them. I did this my last trip, paid at the gate.....and they were out of things I asked for and normally have in first class, never collected the trash from our seats (it was spilling over onto the floor) and when I picked it all up and walked up to the flight attendant who was reading a newspaper and talking to the other FA, he pointed to where the hole in his counter is to put the trash. I had to go throw my own trash away so he could keep talking. Sit in coach and be happy knowing that they collect trash regularly.
I've been trying to book award travel a year in advance to St. Croix and I can't. What a disappointment USAirways has turned into. I've gotten better service, prices and more flight options with American Airlines. That's who'll get more of my business unless USAirways changes their attitude.
