I plan to come down to St. John the third week in September and hoping to book my ticket asap. People have been telling me to check the weather before I come down. How do I know a month in advance if there is any type of Hurricanes en route? Do I just take the chance and go for it and purchase trip insurance in case such occurrence happens?

Storms spin off the African coast all during hurricane season so there's no long term predictability and certainly not a month in advance. We've not had a major hurricane here since 1995. Trip insurance is easily available and inexpensive so just purchase that and plan your trip.

Here is a link where you can see the waves start off the African coast and follow them across the Atlantic. Buying trip insurance is excellent advice.

Rather than intently watching every little puff that comes out of Africa, a more significant site for our area is
www.weathercarib.com
which focuses on the VI.
