Visitors and locals will surely enjoy a big community yard sale this coming Sunday from 10AM-5PM at The Toad and Tart Pub in Smith Bay. Lots of vendors with a huge variety of things to sell, plus a Big Burger BBQ from 11-3 and, of course, the bar will be open! Any unsold items will be donated to the Humane Society and to the Nana Baby Children's Home. Swing by to browse and buy. Cheers!

Why couldn't you wait until Oct 19?

Too funny F.I. ! But, to answer the succint question with a succint response - because I could.

To diverge from the succint, people had stuff to sell, others were looking for stuff and it kind of just rolled into a firm date with just a few week's leeway. I wasn't able to do the "Genips for Crits" this year because last year we seriously hacked down the tree and this year's crop was relatively meager. Big and very FAT and super-sweet genips but too high up for any real harvesting so they now either plop and splat onto my parked car or else plop and splat all over the ground to throw up babies which I'm forced to decimate.

Living in a condo environment where the landscaping maintenance is included must be total heaven to some degree but I wouldn't want anything more than I have here - and giving back via these occasional yard sales enables me to do that as I don't have any kind of ready money to throw out to charitable causes. Left-over stuff from these yard sales have always gone to the Humane Society but when I knew that a couple of sellers had baby clothes and children's items, I contacted the Nana Baby Home and they'll receive whatever is left unsold.

I'm sorry you won't be here this Sunday and my abject apologies for not having paid close attention to any forum posts which may have indicated when you might next be on island which I didn't put on my calendar which I can never find anyway.

Just to be on the safe side, be advised that I'm now an official card-carrying government-approved Senior Citizen in the Virgin Islands. Mess with me and I can whip out that laminated card and do you major damage m'son. Hey,, just saying!

I kid. Cheers

I'm glad you are having it now. I'll be gone Oct. 19th. I've got a lot of stuff from the remodel to sell; timing could not be better for me. Let's hope for calm weather and a great turnout. STT is an angel to do this and I'm sure the charities are very grateful.

STT:

But who is going to tell you the "value of the clocks", etc.?......now you remember me.

Card carrying senior, are you? Now you really are the "Old Tart". (LOL)

Not to worry...we'll be down for the winter.....for your next sale.......save me an old clock or two.

Have a great day!

F.I.

Ouch - the weather has forced us to reschedule the sale to NEXT Sunday, September 28th. The rain has given way to soggy grey, but word is that we're going to be dumped on quite well this afternoon. Anyway, everyone's ready for next Sunday instead and the array of sale goods is huge with not only our own yard packed with vendors but our new neighbor across the street joining in with tons of great stuff resulting from his store downsizing. Should be a merry blast, so hope to see you next Sunday between 10 and 5. Cheers!

Sherri - for sure! I do think everyone's going to do well as there's such a huge variety and it sounds like really good stuff - and what's left won't be wasted but go to good causes. Hope you can make it. Cheers!

WOW, what fun it was and everyone left VERY happy. We have a bunch of stuff for the Humane Society and the Nana Baby home but all in all it was a great day - and the first "real" day we've had for two weeks now where weather is concerned. Sorry you didn't make it, Sherri, but it was great to finally meet Sapphire08 and some others. The animals thank you and the babies thank you. We'll do it again in a couple of months. 6PM right now feels like 11PM, It's been a long day... Cheers and thanks again!

STT,
I'm sorry I didn't make it either, had time to do extra work at the villas and was out raking grass while Jeff was weedeating... a 3 day job! Thank goodness that is over! Then on to pressure washing! Wow, all of this rain made for moldy driveways and walkways! Glad to hear you will be doing it again! I DO have some things to donate and would love to do so. Please let me know when you will be planning this again! Glad it was a success!
