Hi there, my boyfriend and I are thinking of making a move down to either St Thomas or St Croix for the winter - our main purpose besides enjoying the beautiful scenery and people is to kiteboard/kitesurf. Does anyone have any advice on the wind in these locations through the winter? or could you refer me to a certain webpage or contact to gather more information? Is there much Kiteboarding in the Virgin Islands?
any insight would be awesome!
thanks in advance
Jackie
There's a dedicated kiteboarding business on STX - Kite St Croix. According to their pamphlet "Kite St Croix is St Croix's most dedicated kiteboarding operation located on the east end of the island, offering kiteboarding lessons and rentals to everyone from beginners to high altitude junkies."
"All Kite St Croix instructors and the school are insured and P.A.S.A. (professional air sport association) certified. This insures that our instructors have a thorough understanding of the latest, safest and most effective teaching techniques."

Don't know of a similar operation in STT.
You might also want to check out Bitter End Yacht Club in Virgin Gorda.
On St Thomas, check with West Indies Windsurfing. There are frequently kiteboarders in Jersey Bay when the wind is up.
We saw two kiteboarders having a great time out on Great Pond Bay, southeast side of STX. One was obviously just learning and had someone in the water helping him/her. Seems like a great natural spot, though no waves if that's what you're looking for.
