Is the ferry the only way to get to British virgin gorda? Also it looks like the ferry only goes from St. Thomas to Virgin Gorda on Sundays & Thurs. Any suggestions as to how to get there on a saturday - returning on tues? Thanks
You can get there via Tortola.
Or you coould take a charter like New Horizons II or Captain Nautica. They are loads of fun.
Does this charter operate daily? I assume you would need reservations.
The NH II (www.newhorizonscharters.com) goes everyday. I think CN only goes a few days a week. Call Holly for the NH II at 340-775-1171 or Parker, Sr. for CN at 340-715-3379
Via Tortola, via St. John? We need to get there on Saturday. Staying in Virgin Gorda til Tues. So, Charlotte Amalie via St. John via Tortola, to Virgin Gorda? Daily?? Thanks for the info Dominic.
Hello Lorrie,
You'd need to take the ferry from St. Thomas (Charlotte Amalie or Red Hook - depends on what schedule works for you) to Tortola. And then a ferry from Tortola to Virgin Gorda.
The Tortola-Virgin Gorda ferry you can find at: http://www.bvivacations.com/Ferry.html

Islander, thanks for the info. Very helpful. Actually all your info is very helpful. I love this message board & it is a great tool to planning what to do while we are in St. Thomas & Virgin Gorda.
question??? Do you think we will need to rent a car in Virgin Gorda? We will be there for 3 days. Does the island warrent a car? What about mopeds to get around?
Hello Lorrie,
You might rent a car one day to explore on your own and then use taxis for the other 2 days. I don't know about modped rentals there.

Lorrie,
Pls. post back and let us know how the transportation goes. We're planning for something along the same lines for our trip later in the spring.
Thx.
