i was in st croix several years ago, where a good friend of mine lived. he lived in grapetree in a wonderful house up on the rocks overlooking the ocean. when we were there we hiked over the hill to jacks beach and issacs beach. it was amazing!! i'm aware that the path up that road to get to the beaches is private propery and i know they don't like people going up there. my friend no longer lives there and i' looking for a way to get to that beach. is there another way to hike in there without disturbing the priviate residense?? i want to propose to my girlfriend and thats where i want to do it! i would also love to find a great place to stay near there if anyone has any recomendations. divi was not on the top of my list. nice romantic quiet place somewhere in that area. bed and breakfast would be okay.

I don't know of any hotels or b&bs in that area, you'll have to settle for the Divi or perhaps look into villa rentals. I recall seeing trails when I looked down from Point Udall, but I can't seem to find any real directions on how to get to these trails.

if you look at the pull-down menu for St. Croix at the top of this page you'll see a section for beaches. Hiking is definitely done all the time in this area, just not a great idea to go alone.

Maybe some of the locals here can help. Dominic, Linda J - any ideas?

One of the reasons those two beaches are so special is that they are not easily accessible.

One way to get in is to hike from the end of the road in Grapetree Bay. Parking is a problem because everything by the trail is privately owned. It will take you down into Jacks Bay. The other option is to go almost all the way down to point Udall and take the very steep trail down the south side to Issacs Bay.

i thought maybe point udall would be a possibilty. is there a sign a point udall to get you on a trail to the beaches?? or do you just have to know what trail to take.how long is the hike in from point udall.??
