Hi,
I will be visiting st. John with my boyfriend during the first week of July. Unfortunately we have a late flight into St. Thomas at 8:15pm. I am worried that it won't be enough time to catch to the red hook ferry if the ride between airport and red hook is very long.
Does any one know how long this trip will take? We are really excited about this trip.
Another question, how strict is the ID requirement for Americans? My boyfriend is getting his birth certificate but I only have a driver's license and voter's reg card.
I was naturalized, but have since lost the certificate. I am in the middle of applying for a replacement (takes a year.). I have a letter from the gov stating my naturalized location and date, also a receipt for the replacement fee. Does any one know if I should be REALLY worried about not getting back into the states?
thanks so much for your time!
Eileen: You might want to read the article in www.virginislandsdailynews.com or in The Source at onepaper.com about the judge who just declared the INS rules unconstitutional- somehow based on the fact that you don't have to show citizenship going from California to Colorado and you shouldn't have to from the USVI to any other US jurisdiction. You might want to check with Immigration... Your problem will be if you decide to take a day trip to the BVI- you DO need proof of citizenship for that.
Eileen,
The ferries normally run till midnight. You shouldn't have a problem getting there in time. Especially since the first week of July is Carnival and, depending on which specific day you arrive, the ferry should run through the wee hours of the morning. Hope this helps. Also, you can check the ferry schedule at https://www.vinow.com/general_usvi/interisland_ferry/index.php .
James
thank you so much for that information. I do agree with the Judge. Afterall, I did not have to show citizenship when I went from NY to puerto rico.
thank you very much!
We will be in St. JOhn too the first week of July! Should be tons of fun!
