My husband and I are coming to St. Thomas on October 16 for a kid-free vacation (first in years). I have been following the posts of what happened on St. John and wondered how STT was affected by the storm. Can anyone give an update please? thanks,
Heather
After a lot of flooding, today is beautifully sunny and dry and a nice breeze is starting the serious drying process. Another tropical wave is scheduled to pass over us on Monday but all indications are that it will be a relatively normal wave which will pass by quickly and with nothing like the serious (and unprecedented) amount of rain which recently dumped on us. Although the water in most areas right now is unsuitable for swimming and snorkeling because of contamination from run-off, this usually clears up quite quickly. Of course we can't predict the weather but everybody is out today cleaning up (including government workers assessing flood damage to roads, etc.) and breathing a deep sigh of relief. Anyone traveling to the Caribbean during hurricane season is well advised to take out trip insurance but from what I can see there's nothing much on the immediate horizon to worry about and by the time you get here the island will be incredibly and lusciously green! Have fun!
Thanks for the reply. We are really looking forward to our vacation. We have a room at the Tropic Leisure Club and have heard both good and bad about it. No matter what, we will enjoy our time in the islands! Again, thanks for responding.
