I have found Charlotte Amalie parking to be problematic at best. Have found places but it's not a fun adventure.

Red Hook. If you are going to STJ for the day you need to park your car in the ferry parking lot. The parking underground and around American Yacht Harbor is free for 3 hours. Especially during peak season this is carefully checked and cars are booted!!!!

Same across the street at the shops there - you are NOT allowed to park all day. Especially now with the ferry construction underway and the ferry parking lot moved outside of Red Hook, just past the furit stand, they are especially watchful of those trying to park all day........and a boot will appear.

If you're going to STJ, just play it really safe and park in the lot, really easy to do.

Hello Scooby,

At beaches, restaurants, resorts- parking is good. The only beach with a user/parking fee is Magens Bay. (and on St. John Trunk Bay has a user fee.)

In Charlotte Amalie there is a parking lot, Fort Christian Parking Lot. You pay to park there. I usually find parking there but sometimes it is full which means trying to find something downtown and there aren't many spots to be had. And some are 1 hour only type spots.

Havensight has good parking, free.

Hi Scooby. WE went to St. John today- took our rental van- on the car ferry. No worries, in fact,it was quite fun. We got out and sat at the top so we could enjoy the beautiful view. Once over, we were able to tour the island and visit all the beaches, at our leisure. It only cost $35.00.
