Can anyone recommend or just list some hotels that are worth checking on close to STT? It's for a last night in the islands after leaving Jost Van Dyke, would prefer something on the water, close to Charlotte Amalie might be nice if we decide to do the souvenir thing.

Thanks, Bob

Bob,

There's a Best Western right next to the airport. I'm not for certain, but I believe it has a beach. Then there is the Holiday Inn in C.A. which is about a 5 - 10 minute drive from the airport depending on traffic. It's in walking distance of all the downtown shops. Hope this helps....

Best Westerns are near the airport and have a beach....nice properties....Marriott Frenchman's Reef is a 15 minute ride from the airport, lovely beaches and a free water taxi into town for souvenier shopping...

Happy Travels!

A mile or less from the airport and right on the water. All rooms face the beach. Still a short cab ride to town for souvenirs, but a pretty decent crash pad.

Bob,

I stayed at the Island Beachcomber in June. Right next to the airport, and next door to the Best Western. Decent, clean rooms for good rates. Beautiful beach, and a tiki bar and restaurant on the premises.

We stayed at the BestWestern Carib in May. While very close to the airport we
were not impressed especially for the price. Now that we know the layout of the
island and how close things really are, we'll stay downtown next time.

Hurray for Doug. It always tickles me when I see this question asked. The island is only 13 miles long, so everything is close. Where I wouldn't stay on the east end, anywhere in town is fine. It's only about 10 minutes from my B & B. Potential guests always ask how close are the beahes and I say a mile or so! Everything is 10 minutes away.

When did Marriott drop the $5 OW fare on the water taxi to town?

Hello DSJ,

I gave them a call to double check: Tickets are $5.00 each way for adults and $3.00 for children between the ages of 3-12. Children under 2 years ride for free.
