*Several years ago me and my wife spent time at a resort (may have been a Sheraton or Wyndham), I saw it used for the movie Weekend at Bernies. Now my daughter is graduating High School and we are thinking of taking them on a vacation to St. Thomas and would like to go to the say hotel. Had a private Cay for water sports, nice beach, etc.

That was Renaissance Grand Beach Resort, and it is currently closed. I got bought by Palace Resorts out of Mexico, but they couldn't make a go of it, so it's just sitting there. A shame, too. It was used in Weekend at Bernie's II back in '92. I like in the movie how they walk out the door of their room and are on the beach at Magens! Haha!

Thanks for the information, as noted we stayed there back in the 80's and really enjoyed it. When my daughter has the moive on I alswyas said that I would take her there, oh well! Any other ideas for good accomodations on St. Thomas.....Kids are 17, 22 & 26 we are celebrating my daughters high school graduation before she leaves for college.
I know it wasn't Megans Bay but they did have a great semi private Cay for water sports there.
Thanks again,
Bob

Depending on your budget I would recommend either Saphire Beach, Ritz or (My favorite of the three) Secret Harbor.
SH has the best snorekling and less formal than Ritz.

Come over to St. John and rent a villa. There are so many to chose from, and many different price ranges, depending on what time of the year. Your age group of children will also enjoy the "feel" of things there. It is a very young feeling island. With the last one graduating, maybe you will be looking into a place of your own down there. Merry Christmas!

Yes! Secret Harbour Beach Resort. We have stayed there several times and will be there again for New Years's. Very nice snorkeling, beach bar and restaurant. They are condos so some units are nicer than others. Same deal at Saphire too. I just like SH better. And no, I do not own a unit there but have thought about it.
If you want immaculate room go to Ritz or to Westin on STJ. But you loose the affect of Carribean vacation in my opinion.
My priorities are: Great snorkeling, clean room, beach bar , fiendly service, not stuffy (No socks!). In that order.

I appreciate the advice. We need to be close to the ferry as I want to take the family to Virgin Gorda and to St. John, I expect we will be in the VI's for about a week.
Thanks again,
Bob
