I am getting so overwhelmed. I need a hotel in St Thomas that i can walk out of my room onto the beach. I want the hotel to have a swim up bar in the pool, a resturant, layout areas on the beach and a gym. Any ideas. It doesn't have to be the nicest hotel because i can't spend 300 plus a night for a room but I do want to be pampered and stay in a nice place. Thanks for any help!!

You're overwhelmed and I'm a little confused! You said in your first post that you wanted a "villa" on the beach, then said you didn't want a house but wanted a hut in the water and now you're looking for a resort hotel for less than $300/night which also has a whole bunch of requirements. You've been given a lot of suggestions. Secret Harbour has units on the beach, some of the Sapphire/Crystal Cove condo units are beachfront, Morningstar at Marriott Frenchman's Reef has beachfront units but I can't think of anywhere within your price range which has everything you want. I really do think you need to read up on all the general information available right here on this site so you better understand St Thomas and the way it's set up. Once you've done that you might come up with a more realistic list of requirements that might, for instance, eliminate the need for a swim-up bar, a gym and a lot of pampering.

I originally wanted a villa or hut... whatever they are called that sits on the water but then was informed that those are not offered in the VI. I do want to be pampered but what I meant by that was I don't want a one/two star hotel that isn't nice however at the same time I don't want to stay in a resort that only the elite rich people could afford and still sleep good at night. I don't think there's a reason for you to get so snippy. This discussion board I think is for questions and excuss me but I have never been there before so YES I have a lot of questions and am trying to figure out which direction is best fo me to go in. But thanks for the suggestions. FYI I have been reading but thought someone whom lives or visits the VI often would have some insight because of course a resort is only going to advertise their best features.

I'm sorry you think my helpful advice is snippy. As said, if you look at the recommended places (surely the list I've already given is quite substantial?) and then start to narrow things down in terms of location, amenities, price, etc. you'll be offered plenty more information. Hopefully someone else will pop in and offer you some suggestions since mine seem not to be working for you.

I don't really think anyone was being snippy, your wants for a vacation have been all over the place and have been very hard to follow.

Based on everything that you have mentioned in all your posts, I don't think the USVI is for you. I am not aware of any resort with a swim up bar (there may be one that I am forgetting, I am just not aware of any)
In one of your other posts, you mentioned ziplines. You won't find them either.
Fishing? You can deep sea fish on a charter boat and there are some people that fish from shore, but not many tourists.

While there are some resorts that offer meal plans, I don't think you will find your typical AI resort in the USVI. Resorts with multiple bars, restaurants and activities are not really found here.

For me, the islands of the USVI are about exploring. Renting a jeep and getting out of the resort (or private villa) and out and about the island. There are beautiful beaches, with no hotels or homes, fabulous food and drink to be had, and great people to meet.

If you are looking to lounge on the beach with an umbrella drink brought to you and then walk to your room and then walk to your choice of restaurants within your resort, there are many other islands in the Caribbean that can provide that.

Elysian and Bolongo Bay come to mind here. Also tripadvisor.com and many of the travel sites have traveler reviews. As has been said it'll be tough to find all of the amenities under one roof. But with a little research and compromise you should be able to find something very close. Your description does remind me of a place i visited in Jamaica many years ago - kind of like a Sandals but it wasn't a chain. Have you thought about chartering a boat? Some friends of mine just got back from a week on a chartered boat and loved it. Good luck.

Hi, The Mariott at Frenchmans Reef has a swim up bar , but the beach is a bit of a walk, there are restaurants and I'm sure you could arrange for a massage from them.
Bolongo has a swim up bar, rooms beach front, 2 restaurants, one casual and one fine dining, also one of my favorite restaurants is Mims, a short stroll down the beach. Maybe you should look at coming down off season, lots of discounts then...Happy hunting

From the people I have heard about I am sad to say neither of you represent the VI in a good manner. It is sad that you have this attitude and are not a helpful person to someone who's never been to the area. The pool swim up bar is not a requirement in order to come but if it was available it would be a bonus.... which is why I asked. The zip line was just a question... again not a requirement. If a person doesn't ask they will not know. DUH! Have you ever heard the saying that the dumb person is the person who doesn't ask. FYI there is a resort with a swim up bar in the VI.. i just wasn't sure if it had beach front rooms as well. That shows how much you know about the VI and that maybe you should keep your attitude to your self. I don't think questions are hard to follow. I originally was asking about the different islands and if there was any villa's/hut's on the water. I found out there was not so then I figured out which island I wanted and started asking about a resort in St Thomas. The other questions about zip lines and fishing, we'll do no matter where we stay. Geese people... REALLY

T Shirt1... thank you so much for the tips. I have been looking at Bolongo Bay and will check out the other as well. Again thank you for your tip and not being judgemental about a newcomer trying to get information.

Also to the others OH THE VI ARE FOR ME, simple minded j@&#$!!!! LMAO I will be laughing when I'm there and I get everything I want along with the jeep, adventure AND being pampered.
More importantly if you don;t like what I am askign then don;t read my post or respond back... that's not to hard to figure out. 😉

tallen03. All the best in your search and I sincerely hope that the attitude you've demonstrated here isn't typical of your everyday behavior as you may find interacting with locals a little difficult. As a 26 year resident I go out of my way to answer visitors' questions and this is the first time I wish I'd not bothered.

STT Resident.... same to you as well. I hope that the pople I meet are nothing like you and yours. Its funny how you can come off so judging with you first message on this discussion and then still yet turn around take the time to post and blame on it on another. Fromt he people I know the true residents of the area are not like this so I am sure I'll have no problems.

I sincerely hope that the attitude in your post will be left at home when you travel.
I was simply stating that I found your posts confusing and based on what I had read, it did not seem the the USVI had what you were looking for. I love the USVI, but they are not for everyone and I would prefer to guide people to an island that is more suitable for them as opposed to letting people come and be disappointed. I wish you luck in your planning.

Hi Tallen,
It sounds like the Morningstar side of the Marriott might be a good fit. Rooms are right on the beach. They have 2 different view categories,Garden view and Beachfront. Beachfront costs more but Garden view is just as close to the beach(no view but costs less). On the beach they have a massage tent and a bar restaurant(Coco Joes). There's also a nice open bar right by your rooms, right off the beach and below Havana Blue. There's a small pool with no swim up bar on the beach by Coco Joes. If you walk or take a shuttle over to the Frenchmans Reef side you'll find a huge pool with a swim up bar on a cliff over looking the water. The view is stunning. As far as price, I'm not sure when you're looking to travel but I stayed on the Morning star side a few years ago. We traveled in October(I know, hurricane season) and had a Beachfront room and paid less than $300 a night (I think it was $238 but I'm not sure. I also recieved a Govt employee discount but it still would have been less than $300 a night without it). Also, they are planning major renovations sometime this year and I would call first to find out when they're starting. You could also look into renting a timeshare from an owner. Marriott Frenchmans Cove is right next door to the Hotel(Frenchmans Reef). They're new 2 and 3 bedroom villas with full kitchens, dining room and living room with 2 bathrooms and 2 balconies over looking the water. The resort is built into a mountainside and every villa is ocean view. You also have full use of the hotels(Reef Morningstar) amenities(pool, bars beach) as well as your own(Cove) infinti pool and beach and bar restaurant. I'm pretty sure you could rent a week from an owner for less than $2,000 any time of year. I'm an owner there and use my week every year. I love it there and I love St Thomas. I'll be there in 2 months and cant wait. Anyway, good luck with hotel search and I hope you do make it to the U.S Virgin Islands some day. They're beautiful...

There is not a sweeter, more helpful local than STT. She answers many questions on at least two message boards every day, never promoting herself or her business. You would be fortunate to meet locals like her. Then again, you probably wouldn't appreciate them.

I believe that several people that visit this site on a regular basis have ideas for that which is highlighted. It would please many of us
if you would heed their advice.
