Hi...
My husband and I are travelling to STT for 1 week in early Oct. I have written on here before asking for advice on car rentals etc. However.. this week we experienced tropical storm 'Fay'... which destroyed by flood, our car (write off)and various belongings. Rather than cancel our STT trip.. because our funds will have to be used elsewhere now.. we decided to travel anyway.. but stay someplace cheaper...we had reservations at pavilions and pools... now are looking at Amazing Villas... so..any input about that hotel ....or any suggestions for a decent inexpensive place to stay for the week...(prefering sapphire beach /coki beach/red hook areas) ...would be appreciated....so if anyone can help me out .. i would love to hear back.
thanks !!

If you like the Sapphire-Coki-Red Hook area, why stay in a hotel at all? Check out the condos and apartments available directly from the owner. You'll need to shop, pick, and choose, but you'll get a nicer stay for less $$$. Two website with lots of units are vrbo.com or homeaway.com I've seen some units at Sapphire that are quite nice.

Have a terrific visit!

Alisha:

Try the Point Pleasant Resort.....a short walk from Coki & close to Sapphire & Red Hook.

P.P. has its own (small) romantic beach, too.

It also has 2 restaurants, 3 pools, tennis courts, nature trail, activities desk, etc. ......and incredible views.

It may cost a few dollars more, but at least you know what you're getting.

Their number is 340-775-7200.

I believe Amazing Villa's is in Pineapple Village, nice ground floor Condo (all of Pineapple is groundfloor), 24 hour security, next door to Point Pleasant and Fungi's, short 5 minute walk to Coki, plenty of parking, private garden patio, pool on the grounds, a couple of hundred yards to Pinapple Beach/Smith Bay, etc...

I do have to admit that I am somewhat biased, we fell in love with the area and bought a villa in Pineapple Village a year and a half ago and love it.

Although the surrounding hotel is now closed and awaiting renovations by the Wyndham which all of us are looking forward to. You can get great rental prices now with a nice quiet getaway.

Hi Donna..
Thx for the info.. looks great..where is it located on the island? (I cant tell from the map/sorry) and how far to the beach/which one?
We would like to know if you have installed AC ...I see on the website there is none... I expect being on the hill there is always a breeze and not having AC might not be a big deal. Do you have electric fans or ceiling fans?
Like I mentioned previously we just went through tropical storm Fay in which President Bush has declared our area a disaster area and federal funds are forthcoming.. however...rather than cancel our trip.. we just need to find more reasonable accommodations... as understandably we will not have as much to spend on our vacation. (which is our belated honeymoon)
Donna.. We will be travelling Oct4-11. I look forward to your reply.
Thx...I appreciate your help.

Hi Alisha,

If you are looking to be in the Sapphire / Red Hook / Coki Beach area than Amazing Villas in Pineapple Village is a good choice (or any of the other condos in the complex - check out vrbo.com for additional accomodations). You can walk to Coki Beach in just a few minutes and a short Safari ride will take you to Red Hook as well. You can also walk to a few restaurants or stay in and prepare your own meals. All of these options make for an affordable accomodation.

Alisha, so sorry that you had to go through Fay :o(

If you go on vrbo.com and look at Sapphire, you'll find alot of listings, but if you'd like a reasonable place to stay, I have the link for Sapphire and where we rented before. Second floor, right on the beach and very reasonable.

All the best.

Thx for all the input! Amazing Villas looks reasonable, convenient and near the beach....however I have read mixed reviews about the beach there... seaweed? rocks? Can anyone tell me if Water Bay/Pineapple beach is decent for swimming or snorkeling. With a car rental we plan to visit various beaches anyway... but it would be nice to find that the villa we rented had a lovely beach as well. I know Coki is a short walk over...i just wondered mainly about the beach directly in front of the property.
Thx again folks...

🙂 Alisha

Hi
Thanks to everyone for the input. I managed to secure a affordable and lovely condo in Sapphire Village...
I will be sure to write a report after we return in mid October. A special thanks to Connie!

We stay at pin apple beach each year. The beach itself is not good for snorkeling and is not in the best of shape, but Coki is less than 5 min. walk and very desirable.
