We would love to be able to go horseback riding while in St Thomas for the day- anyone know of a stable where we could do this? We will be down on July 2, 2003. Thanks in advance....

Hello Julie,

The horse back operation on St. Thomas is no longer. I had met the person who had taken up the training part of the operation but he did indicate that he wouldn't be doing any of the tours, horseback for visitiors - just the teaching of kids and summer camp stuff like that... not sure if that has changed. - Anyone know??

You can horseback on St. John... and St. Croix as well.

We get off the ship around 9 am- do you think that we could get to St Johns -then actually get to the horseback riding place- do the ride- get back to St Thomas and the ship by 4 pm? How would we get to St Johns and about how much would it cost? Do you have a link for the horseback on St Johns? Thanks Islander! You are a wealth of information!!!

Julie,

Did you want to do anything else in VI??

Yes you can get to St. John - lots of people do 🙂 they usually head to the beach and so forth.

The horses are in Coral Bay, you could go there and get back in time - yes. However is there anything else you might like to do... that way I can see if you can fit the other
thing(s) in also.

You would need to call (340)693-5778 for Carolina Corral for St. John horseback tours.

I am headed to St. Thomas on a cruise ship in November. We definitely want to snorkel here, so we decided we are going to do horseback riding in St. Maarten instead. We talked with a person from Lucky Stables (try doing a google search on "St. Maarten" and "horseback" to find out more about them). It is about $50 for 2 hours.

Personally I think there is so many more things to do on St. Thomas 🙂

We are going to St Maarten and actually have rode horses at Bayside stables in St Maarten and LOVED it but the reason we wanted to do St Thomas is because of how the sea days and the port days are. I am afraid that we will either burn up or burn out on beaches if we do a beach in St Thomas- then 2 days later we have the private island. We also live on a beach! I was trying to break it up- St Maarten is on Tuesday, St Thomas is on Wednesday, and the private island is on Friday!!!
We had thought about trying to do a beach- Megans Bay because it has everything we wanted in a beach (a bar for hubby!!) and it is beautiful- if we were to horseback- we would maybe do the tram in the afternoon on the way back to the ship.
Thanks for all the input and help!

I see what you mean Julie about beach days... did you contact the horse tour folks for more information - to see if its something that would interest you for St. John?.

Transportation: if on Norway you can ferry direct from ship to St. John. Otherwise for other ships you can get off the ship, take a taxi to the ferry dock, ferry over to St. John. On St. John you would have to take a taxi to Coral Bay... taxi to Coral Bay would run maybe $24 one way for 2 people. Ferry is $6 round trip or $14 depending on where you leave from. You;ll spend over $50 in getting there to horseback. Is it worth that much to you I quess is the question.

You other option - Magens Bay is a great choice... there is a beach bar and there is beach wait staff so the drinks can come to you at your spot under a palm tree - don't need to go for it. Long beach so you can walk down the beach and enjoy the view.
