I'm getting married on St Thomas in April and our families will be staying in a villa for a week. My fiance and I want to stay a couple of extra nights at a nice resort to have a mini honeymoon. Any suggestions? So far, we're considering Caneel Bay, Westin, or the Ritz. Are there other resorts we should look into?

Thanks much!

I would not do the Westin - man made beach and only beach on property and can have alot of children. Caneel has 7 fabulous beaches but no TV, phones etc but is a wonderful resort. Sorry I can't help with The Ritz.

I agree with Pia. The first thing i thought when I read the post was "not the Westin for a honeymoom". Nothing against the Westin, but I don't see it as a honeymoon spot. It seems more like a place you'll start going once you have a young family.

I think Caneel sounds ideal. Given these three choices, I would go there.

Your idea about a luxury resort to cater to you and your hubby after the wedding and the week in the villa with your family sounds like a good one.

Aside from that, if you really want to seclude yourselves away from the world, yet still have a staff to care for you, head over to Guana Island and stay at the sanctuary there. http://www.guana.com/index.html

Guana has dining, a spa with massages by the sea, sunset cruises, hiking tails, etc...and 7 beautiful beaches.

Caneel Bay! They will cater to you! Had a friend and his wife that went into Cruz Bay and participated in the adult beverages until way late into the night. No taxis, nada. They called the Caneel Bay and within 30 mins someone from the resort was there to pick them up. They left that person a hefty tip as it was well worth the alternative of sleeping on the sidewalk in Cruz Bay! It's a great place for your honeymoon.
