Hi,

My fiancee and I will be in St. Thomas in October for our honeymoon for about 5 days. We have never been to the USVI before and have a few questions:

(1) We will be staying at the Wyndham. Our room is a luxury, I think. Any ideas on what to expect regarding amenities, staff courtesy, restaurant suggestions, etc.? Any ideas/thoughts/comments, suggestions etc. about the hotel would be great.

(2) Have any of the hurricanes/tropical storms caused any damage to St. Thomas (more specifically ....the Windham) that we should be concerned about?

(3) Any suggestions on "fun" places to visit or things to do?

(4) Any major safety concerns (i.e. specific to St. Thomas & other than the normal kind of things) that we should know about?

Any other suggestions that would make for a great honeymoon/trip would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!
Brian

Brian,
I don't think the US Virgin Islands had much damage from the hurricanes.
I'm a travel agent and will be visiting Tortola, British Virgin Islands next weekend, so I hope the other hurricanes stay away! We are planning on a ferry trip over to St Thomas and St John.
My husband and I visited St John a couple of years ago while on a cruise.
You have to take a day trip over there because Trunk Bay is the prettiest beach in the world!!
The ferry leaves from Charlotte Amalie to Cruz Bay, St John and costs around $7.00 per person each way. The cab fare is around $4.00 per person to Trunk Bay and it cost $4.00 per person to get in. It is a state park so they charge to go to the beach.
It's definately worth it!!
St Thomas has great shopping but that's all we had time to do. I know there's lots of nightlife there too. You should have nightly entertainment at your hotel so you can probably stay there at night.
Your hotel should be all-inclusive meaning it includes meals and drinks and tips.
You can look at tripadvisor.com and type in St Thomas hotels and look at the reviews of the Wydham Sugar Bay.
Have a wonderful honeymoon!!
Julie
