I am getting married on St Thomas in April and we will be spending 3 extra nights as a mini-honeymoon. I am having a hard time deciding where to go. Since the wedding is on St. Thomas, it would be nice to go to a different island. I have researched Caneel Bay and it seems great, but it is soooo expensive! The Westin seems too family-oriented from what I've read. I've also considered staying on St Thomas and going to the Ritz, which would also be pricey, or the Marriott for a less expensive option. The other idea I had was to go to St Croix and stay at Carambola. It seemed like even with flying, this option would still be cheaper than Caneel, the Westin, or the Ritz. But is it worth the hastle of flying to go there? Or should we just splurge and stay at either the Ritz or Caneel Bay? I am kind of confused and frustrated at this time and would be open to any suggestions or opinions that you all have.

Thanks so much!

I can't think of any better honeymoon than to rent a villa or condo in St. John. 3 days may be too few days for many villas to rent to you, but all the condos and Estate Lindholm (a B&B) will rent to you. All of the previous would probably cost less than the resorts you mentioned plus will give you a lot more room, a LOT more privacy and romance, and will spoil you for life (it certainly did us). Plus it's just a ferry ride away (20 minutes) from St. Thomas and 3 days would give you enough time to sample a few of the many incredible beaches on St. John.

You might be able to book those 3 nights at Gallows Point. In fact they do have a honeymoon special but not sure if it requires a minimum number of nights. Nice location as it's an easy walk into Cruz Bay.

Go to St.John!! I spent my honeymoon there, it's amazing! It's laid back and sets the right tone. If you do head to St. Croix I suggest the Pink Fancy Hotel...So sweet and private.

Secret Harbor on STT would also be a nice choice, no need to blow all that money! The Villa options are out for a 3 day rental, 5 minimum!

I would second Gallows Point. It is a really nice condo resort and is also in an excellent location to enjoy the most for dining, town, bars, and beaches (25 min trail hike to Solomon and Honeymoon Beach) within walking distance. Given the short stay you will have of three days it would let you stay active and enjoy a lot in your time. The units are very nice and the views are excellent.

Another option I would suggest would be the Sandcastle on Jost van Dyke except that getting over and back would require a Fri/Sat/Sun travel day to take advantage of the most direct public ferry. If you stayed here expect to do little but enjoy the beach, beverages and food.
