Our architecture firm would like to have information that explains the process of constructing homes in the Virgin Islands, particularly St. John. Is there such information, and where can it be found?
In addition, here are specific questions:
1) Are the architects that practice there members of the Ammerican Institute of Architects?
2) How many of the architects that work there are residents?
3) What building codes apply?
4) Can you provide us with an email address of one or more architects that are residents?
Thank you!
GBW
Hello Gayland,
You can find building codes at: http://www.virginislandsdailynews.com/index.pl/building_code
There is permit information at: http://www.viczmp.com/
Environmental issues: http://www.dpnr.gov.vi/dep/home.htm
Visit the VI AIA chapter web site for details and a list of members with contact info: http://www.aiavi.org/
There are architectural firms that are contracted to design projects in the USVI that are located stateside. Perhaps the VI AIA might have statistics.
