Hello everyone. We were planning a vacation and were wondering what you thought of the Holiday Inn Windward. Is it in a great location and near affordable restaurants and other sights? I would appreciate your honest answer.
Thank you

We stayed there one night before heading to St. John; the decision primarily due to the HI's proximity to the ferry. The location is excellent as far as restaurants and shopping are concerned. I believe they provide a shuttle to Megan's Bay as well. The hotel common areas are nice - there's a pool and bar in the courtyard. We had breakfast at the restaurant, which was nice, but a bit on the expensive side if I remember correctly. The rooms themselves were okay, but we weren't expecting first class accomodations either. Due to the brevity of our stay, I can't really comment on the other ammenities offered. Over all we were satified with the HI for our purposes, but I don't think I would spend an entire week there IMHO. I would recommend it for a night or two on the way in or out. Hope this helps.

We were at the Windward Inn a year ago for a long weekend, 4 nights. The room was adequate, the location convenient. We got a good rate, $89/night before taxes, wich made it worth it. Just don't walk in the area behond the hotel at night. I got a little nervous walking back there in the late afternoon but nothing happened, just a feeling. Stay on Veteran's Drive if you're into walking at night. Didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel. I would agree with ccasebolt's observations.

I just returned on Sunday from 10 nights, staying at the Holiday Inn. We loved it. The front desk upgraded us to Oceanfront rooms, which all the Oceanfront rooms have recently been upgraded. The furniture in the rooms is beautiful. Everyone in the hotel was really great. The stay could not have been better. They do have a free shuttle everday to Megan's Bay, which is a nice touch. Friends I was travelling with spent their 3rd anniversary while vacationing and when the hotel found this out, they actually had rose petals put around and on the bed. Also had a bottle on iced down champagne delivered to the room. I thought that was a very nice touch.
Granted, it's not the Ritz, but for the money, it was wonderful! We will be staying there again!
