I just purchased a house in St Thomas and want to sign up for high speed Internet. Does anyone know who provides this service besides Innovative. I am hoping to sign up with Vonage so I won't be using the Innovative telephone service and need names of other providers....non-dial up providers.

We have rental time available at our Ritz Carlton condo. Our scheduled time is April but I can check other available dates. Go to Ritz Carlton website for pictures. It's a lovely three bedroom condo...prices vary according to dates being used.

Ackley is great if you are line of sight to one of their towers and they also offer VoIP so you can avoid using Innovative altogether.

joonbug, I use the Sprint Mobile Broadband, and am absolutely thrilled! If you have a Sprint phone, and can get signals at your home, then their high-speed connection will work in your home. If not, you might want to consider Cingular's similar service. Sprint has a 30-day guarantee, so you can get a refund if it doesn't work where you are. Also, the pc card is free with rebate - USB modem is not.

What I like about these services are, you can take your high-speed connection anywhere, so you're not confined to just your home. Also, I got the USB modem (I have Windows Vista), so I can use it on my desktop or laptop if I want. Cingular's service is only for laptops using a PC card.

All of the services are dependent upon where you live, so you should ask your neighbors what works for them. Choice has a service that works using your electrical outlet, but it's only available in certain areas. .

BTW, I don't work for Sprint. I was so frustrated with dial-up here, and hadn't heard many good stories about high-speed services, so with Sprint's offer, I didn't have anything to lose, plus I wouldn't have to wait for them to installl whatever. Just plug it in, and you're on. You can also set up a network, but you have to order their router.

Ask for Monica at the Sprint store at Lockhart - she set me up.

You can also try Choice. Depends also on line of sight, but if you have a newer tower near you, you don't necessarily need line of sight. All depends on location. Choice has high speed and you pay for the speed you want.
