What a great resource for VI Travel! Just found these boards yesterday and I've been reading all day at work instead of working! My Hubby and our 2 kids 17 yr old daughter and 7 yr old son were in STT/STJ on a cruise in 2002 and we fell in LOVE! We vacation every year and my kids LOVE our beach vacations just as much as going to Disney World so I am planning our next trip for next Feb/Mar to the BVI/USVI's for a week.

Please can someone give me opinions or point me to a website where I can get a good list/idea of where to eat with my kids. I am looking for restaurant suggestions with great atmosphere and good reasonably priced kid friendly meals. Breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, salads, chicken, mexican, etc.

Also, are there any good catamaran snorkel tours offered? Or should we just do this on our own? We all love to snorkel, even my 7 year old who has done it many times with us, the most recent being Molokini Crater/Turtle Town in Maui. We are planning on spending a day on St. Thomas doing the tram, Coral World, Shopping. Also, we are definitely doing the Baths but can't decide whether to do this on our own or with a tour? Of course the majority of the time is going to be spent on the most beautiful slice of heaven on earth STJ. I once read someplace that if God had a swimming pool, this would be it. My first glimpse of those georgeous bays from up above, made me a believer!

Any other suggestions or things we should be sure to do as a family, please give me the 411! Thanks in advance!

STJ has some great places for the family to eat. Places like, Vie's Snack Shack, Skinnylegs, Woody's (NOT at happy hour! Haha!), etc.

For the baths, you can try the ferry, but I think for a family, something like the Limnos would be easier on you.

For the daysail, there are loads of cat daysails available. They all do a good job, just slightly differently. Give us some more info and we can recommend a few for ya.

Sounds like you enjoy traveling. Send me an e-mail and I can send you some info to make traveling cheaper.

~HAVE FUN!~

You'll have a ball! And yes, this Board is quite addictive, good thing my boss never bugs me or he'd see how often I'm on this rather than on work. We've taken our kids twice to STJ, from ages 6 on up and don't worry, just show up and you'll see lots of little places in Cruz Bay to eat. Its not a fancy island so you won't be overwhelmed with exotic food they'll be unhappy with. Ours loved Miss Lucy's as she has goats running around and the food was simple enough for them. We stayed at Maho Bay Camps both times and they had a great, easy menu anyway. Just enjoy the slowness of island time and wander around and you'll find places to eat, no problem 'mun!

Family on STJ...
Id say: Banana Deck, Rhumblines, AQqua Bistro in coral bay, Sun dog cafe during the day, cheeseburgers atop bordeaux during the day, ummm Ronnies pizza, hmmm thats most of the best family places.

Follow the north shore road past Annanberg and out to Coral Bay. Go through Coal Bay (past Skinny Legs) and keep on going. After a while, there will be a tree in the middle of the road. You will see Vie's Snack Shack on the left, you can park beside it. On the right side, you will see the entrance to her property that leads down to her beach. If no one is there, you will see a box on the fence that you need to put money in, her beach is private property, so she charges. Hope this helps.
