Hi,
we are in a small hotel, downtown Charlotte Amalie. It is so warm that we like to sleep without any blanket. The air condition plus ventilator doesn't help enough. Problem... as soon we move the blanket mosquitos are killing us.
So the only possibility is to find a Mosquito net somewhere... but where?? The department store near the Holiday Inn couldn't help and they didn't know where to find Mosquito nets at STT.
Please help us and tell us where we can find Mosquito nets at the island.
Thx
Christopher
If you find the net, how would you hang it or suspend it from the bed? That's the problem I have with my net - I can't hang it, so I use a fan to keep the mosquitoes away. Few of them fly into that breeze, so they stay away. They have good fans at KMart, and they're cheap.
Tere's an Army/Navy store not too far from the Holiday Inn on Back Street near Market Square. They may have mosquito nets.
Over behind the hospital, there is a furniture store, Island Empire that sells them. People usually spray mosquito spray a few hours before bed time, like when you go out for dinner, and that usually works. Other than that, you are fresh meat and will be bothered for some time. Good luck.
You could also buy an inexpensive "OFF" lantern. which works with a candle and repellent insert. Plaza Xtra and Home Depot carry them but I'm sure there are several markets closer to you. I use them all the time. Light it up 15 minutes or so before you go to bed. They last about 4 hours (nice "night light" glow) and the repellent lasts over eight hours. No noxious odor, inexpensive and they work beautifully. Cheers!
Thanks a lot... you are all so helpful. Now we have different options... also our hotel owners gave us some helpful hints.
