Can I get to St. Thomas airport in time to catch a 7:50 flight to San Juan from Cruz Bay 6:00 ferry?

Hello Deb,

You'd be cutting it really close and chancing the great possibility that the lines will be long for the ticket counter, the ticket person saying 'you needed to be here 1 (or 2) hours in advance, the next flight is at __', checking in but having long line for customs/immigration.

I'd say spend the night on St. Thomas.

Islander,

Thanks for the good advice. Can you recommend a safe, reasonable, clean hotel near the ST airport. It is for my sister-in-law who is traveling alone and not a seasoned travler.

Your advice is so appreciated.

Emerald Beach Best Western on Airport Road. Can't get closer.

Hello Deb,

Emerald, suggested by Chris, is right by the airport. Its a good choice for the overnight stay.

Two other hotels right by the airport are Carib Beach Resort (also a Best Western) and Island Beachcomber.

Thanks Islander,

I've checked the first two, but now Island Beachcomber. Someone on this board suggested Bunkerhill. Not so close to the airport, but inexpensive. Any opinion?

Deb

We used Bunker Hill. It is 3 blocks from the CA to STJ ferry so about 5 - 10 minute taxi to airport. Clean, relatively inexpensive, nothing to scream about but certainly works for an evening or two.

Hello Deb,

Bunker Hill is adequate for an overnight stay. As you are looking for places not necessarily right next to the airport you can also look at:

and

Island View is roughly speaking on the hillside between downtown and the airport. Crystal Palace is downtown.
