HI,
Getting married end of March at Hawk's Nest Beach - any opinion about that beach for a noon wedding - what's the weather like at that time? Also wondering if anyone has a suggestion for activities immediately after the wedding - just my fiancee and I - looking into a nice lunch, snorkeling, tour of St. John's by land or water - any suggestions? Input is much appreciated! Thanks, denise

A noon wedding anywhere in the USVI will be hot! I hope your wedding dress is not two thick in terms of layers of cloth. The beach is gorgeous and a great choice. A nice lunch - try getting in touch with the Westin - perhaps they could arrange something special or Caneel Bay - at the restaurant on the resort ground. There is a great restaurant at Gallow's Bay Hotel as well - but I don't know about whether they will be open and serving lunch in March or just dinner. But thats another option to try. You could rent a jeep and look around the island. Salt Pond Bay would be nice, you could enjoy the beach, snorkel, hike around. St. John is beautiful you will have a good time.

I was married at Hawksnest in May of '99 with the help of Weddings The Island Way. There is a parking lot very close to the beach (perhaps 25 feet) and a small Pavilion and several picnic tables. The area is very shady so the heat hopefully won't be a problem or if it is, stay in the air conditioning of your vehicle. I was sweating at our 5:00 p.m. ceremony but I had a good sunburn and was wearing a tuxedo (and perhaps nervousness, LOL). After our ceremony, we went to Ellington's for a sunset dinner. Couldn't recommend a trip to Salt Pond as it is quite or a hike but perhaps a late lunch at a nice Restaurant (plan ahead) or book a steel pan band to play poolside at The Westin (they occasionally have one play later in the day some days) and invite all of the guests to raise a glass along with you!
