Hi there-
First time poster. Been coming to STT and STJ every few years since '96. The last several times we've visited we always had drinks/lunch at the Happy Buzzard bar down by the main thoroughfare in Charlotte Amalie. We stopped by again on a cruise visit last month and were told it had been sold and was going to be the Big Kahuna (some chain) or something like that; and that the employees had come down from Maryland. Yikes!!! We loved the Happy Buzzard; especially the laid back people we always found who worked there. It was always a great place to sit down and people watch and talk to the fun employees. Nothing against the new people, but they looked kind of cookie cutter now. Soooo-any other suggestions for a good downtown bar? We'll be back for several days in a few months and would appreciate some suggestions. Thanks!
Try the bars in Frenchtown.
There's a nice bar in Palm Passage right outside in the center of the passage. I've heard drinks are a bit higher there, but it's a lovely setting.
The Giggling Gecko in International Plaza is owned by a very nice woman, Michelle. They also own Burrito Deli in Red Hook. She makes a killer rum punch! It's a shame how run down International Plaza has become, but she's hanging in there, and her prices are reasonable.
Try Coconuts - it's a good place to chill and Shirley is great!!
Hola, next time you're in Saint Thomas you should try The Giggling Gecko.
