Two weeks from today and STX for two weeks. Set up a toddy with Joanne at Rumrunners. Can't wait to get her take on places to dine and meet the "blister sisters".

My email friends Kerry and Paula have arrived home safely from their three weeks in St Croix.

God bless the troops. Just lost three more from my home state. Not a politcal statement!

34 years military.

Yes indeed, Sandcrab.

Sometimes I think this message board is like a halfway house for those of us lucky enough to be strung out on the Virgin Islands and tropical Caribbean bliss.

For my wife and me, the countdown is that in ten days we are lucky enough to embark on ten fun filled days on STJ... They're saying we're going to get another six to ten inches of snow tonight and tomorrow, so you all know how delighted I am to be able to step out of my immediate reality... "It doesn't matter, I can dig out the car, we get to go to St. John soon!"

🙂

They are beautiful photos. We were then in early December and we are going back on March 10th. Can't wait, especially after this winter!

Dave - I noticed that you are from Boston, so you know what I'm talking about. That is where we are from. Are you also leaving from Logan on 3/10? I know it's really none of my business - I'm just curious!

My mother, five siblings and our spouses are coming to St. Croix May 21-28 this year. I'm so glad I found this web site. You have gooten me so excited. What suggestion would you have for the first stop in Christiansted that we should make to have our first cocktail to celebrate our arrival?

Debbie

Rum Runners or the Fort Christian Brew Pub, might as well be right on the water!

Absolutely - Rumrunners has the best happy hour in town, Brew Pub is fun. Don't bother with Stixx. I don't know if The Mix has set up tables outside - they were just open when I was there in October. They have great, but pricey, cocktails.

Joanne and others,

What do think Joanne, should we invite others? Are we set for Wed
night at RumRunners? I'll email you to see if that still works. I think that's the 16th.

Thank you for your response. Looks like we will be seeing Joanne at Rumrunners. Rumrunners seems to be the place by populaar demand.

Talked to Joanne again and sounds like we'll be meeting at Rumrunners about 5:30 on Wed Mar 16th.

We'll be the mid to late life crisis folks with sunburned noses and carrying a Polaroid Land Camera. Also will probably be wearing tacky tourist clothing and laughing obnoxiously. I'll be with my wife aka Calypso Katie but it sounds like if you ask anyone where the "Blister Sisters" are...they'll point you to Joanne and sis. Hope to meet some of you website lurkers.

Coffee guy,
Where are you exactly in Fred'sted? We'll be there in May & we LIKE java so we will stop by.

Also, you responded to my query about shore snorkelling & or diving. We have mucho experience diving by ourselves from our ex-sailboat but for diving we will go with a dive shop this trip. However, we like to drive around & snorkel different spots, so any places you like on the West End would be appreciated.

Gracias,
Jim W

Yep - The Blister Sisters (Joanne and Kathy) will be there and would love to meet any and all! We're the two "ladies" with short silver hair who don't act their age and, it's true, the staff will be, er..., "happpy" to point us out (or point and laugh). I'll post this as a separate thread so nobody misses it.

Once we have tackled Happy Hour, day two for us girls will probably be some shopping. Where should we go for the islands best bargains and their handmade crafts?

You can find handmade crafts at Many Hands in the Pan Am Pavillion, and in Memories of St Croix on the corner of Company street and Church street. Soaps and Scents is on Queen Cross street and has home made soaps, ect that smell heavenly. THEN if you really want an island 'craft'... Sonya's is just right around the corner and across the street from Memories of St Croix! Hook bracelets!

My vote for your first cocktail upon arrival would be right at the airport. There is a little booth near the baggage p/u area that passes out free samples of the different kinds of Cruzan rum. No Charge baby !! Have a quick one while you're waiting for your luggage.
