Hi,

I am going to St Thomas this summer and read something about Hans Lollick. We were thinking of going there because we thought it would be neat to go to an uninhabited, uncommercialized island for the day.

1. Is there a way to get there? (water taxi, etc. and where would you pick it up)

2. What is there to do there other than explore on our own or go to a beach?

3. Is it safe to do so? Would you recommend it? Why or why not?

Thanks for your input.

About the only way to get to Hans Lollick is by private or rental boat. If you want to pay the premium for the Water Taxi,go for it.

Homer at Hull Bay (www.nightsnorkel.com) does dive trips near/around there - I would suspect if you contact him he could give you a better idea on how to get there.

Safe? Never been there - and haven't heard of anyone who has, other than diving near the island.

There are plenty of other areas that seem uninhabited - thought about them? Grass, Thatch, Lovango, etc - all in the same general area - still the same transportation issues.

If you're looking for a pirvate beach, try West Caret - you can drive to the 'trail head' then hike down....then back up again. Or any number of trails on St John

useful? I seriously doubt it 😉

Hey Laura , I have been there many times however if you do go you need to go there w/ someone who knows how to get past the reef. there is a pass through on the south east end where you can get close to the beach and anchor. there isnt much there other than the remains of an old hut and cistern set back about 200yrds off the tree line from the beach. there are wild donkeys there that will be friendly and curious and will let you feed them a beer if you can spare one. all in all pretty cool place. and if you fall in love and must have it a cool $18,000,000 and its all yours.
