Lest St Croix be ignored, tomorrow they're having their second annual Gumbo and Kallaloo Cook-Off at Sylvie's. Lots of places have Chili Cook-Offs, but where else will you find a Gumbo and Kallaloo cooking competition? So, if you can't make it this year, you may want to plan for next.

According to the Daily News, the cook-off starts at noon and Sylvie's Restaurant is in La Vallee. For more information, call 332-6801 or 713-8633 (area code 340).

Maybe Marial will be there selling her kallaloo t-shirts!

I mentioned this to my husband and he was drooling. We made our first trip to STX this past April and were there for the "Taste of St. Croix" where we tried some STX style gumbo - yummmmmmmmm. I just know everyone had a good time at this cook off!

Well, spring is generally when we go to the VI - how about a restaurant recommendation on where to get the best STX gumbo?? THANKS!!!
