Sherri Said: This was fun!
How about another thread using our own photos! Wouldn't be a prize tho!
What do ya think?
The prize is one day at this beach at your own expense
I think this one is pretty easy
On Island Time - great picture, was a little tricky being a night shot. You gave it away to quickly. 😛 Was trying to find a picture from about the same spot but during the day to see if anyone would get it then. And on the other picture, Joe's Beach Bar & Heidis is on Honeymoon Beach, Water Island.
Sherri - I've not been into Beacon's Point, stopped a couple times to look from the pyramid thing but not been inside.
MargyZ - Don't know about geology either but your guess about the rocks sounds good. Recently read a short article about geological history in the VI. There were a few pictures, one of which was a brownish cliff face which the author used to illustrate geometric lines that is believed to reveal original lava flows.
Chris - your beach picture... maybe Gibney on St. John?

Sorry Islander, right island though.
Chris is that the BVI in the background
So maybe Francis Bay... or do I still need to go more east?
Well here's another night shot, I won't give it up to quickly this time :-X
Go West young man
Sherri,
Could that be Magens Bay?
On Island Time,
You got it! Taken from Peterborg Rd.!
Chris... how about Honeymoon Beach?
On Island Time - that's a tough one. I thought Sapphire Marina but then thought no doesn't look right... American Yacht Harbor... no doesn't look quite right either... so my guess... It's a boat dock! 😀 Good job on Sherri's photo of Magens!

Sherri, is that the Caves?
Islander you got it it's a boat dock hmmm *-)
OK here's hint #1: You would have this view sitting at a table by the railing, enjoying a great home style meal.
Hey Connie,
It's a cave, but just where is it?
On Island Time,
I'm guessing your picture is on STJ? Islander, hey you are getting close! 😀
Islander
Spot on
Chris at Work,
Honeymoon? I had confused your post with On Island Times pick!
Glad to know that spot on was not Islanders guess for the boat dock! lol!
Sherri...not STJ :S it's on STT.
Hint #2...the East End.
On Island Time, Is it Independent Boat Yard?

Island Time
is the dock over by lattitude 18? If I remember they had a very small area to tie up mostly dinghys
The larger boats confuse me
I know the location is easy to guess, but I am going to alter the rules on this one. I would like to know the name of this ship, and I do have the date it happened - so I propose guess the name and the date:
This is just a wild guess:
Late in the afternoon of March 30, 1979, the cruise ship Angelina Lauro and other ships at the St. Thomas cruise ship dock were awaiting for their passengers to come back on board so that they could set off to their next Caribbean destination. However, somewhere in the ship's galley a small fire erupted and, with much of the crew still ashore, the fire began to spread. Within minutes, smoke was billow out of portholes in the ship's lower decks. Local firefighters responded almost immediately, but they were ill-prepared or equipped to fight a fire inside an ocean-going vessel like the Angelina Lauro. Despite their best efforts, the fire raged on all through the night and, by the following morning, the ship had taken on enough water for it to settle, leaning to one side, on the shallow bottom of the harbor. Luckily, no one was injured in the fire and the ship's passengers and crew were airlifted back to the ship's homeport in Miami. The saga of the Angelina Lauro did not end there, however. Many months later, the ship's owners arranged for a salvage company to refloat the ship and tow her to Japan, where she was to be sold for scrap metal. However, somewhere near Hawaii, enroute to Japan, the hulk of the Angelina Lauro encountered a Pacific storm and sank. She still rests somewhere at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
