Sherri Said: This was fun!
How about another thread using our own photos! Wouldn't be a prize tho!
What do ya think?

The prize is one day at this beach at your own expense

I think this one is pretty easy

Ok TomB - Cinnamon Bay's pay phones!

MargyZ - on your photo, somewhere below Off the Wall toward Cane Bay maybe?

Islander - DIng, DIng Ding! Just slightly west of the Off The Wall beach bar. It was the "Pink Floyd" clue that nailed it, right????? 😛 And, their oven turns out a really good slice of pizza!

So yes there are phones at the campgrounds - but do not count on them being operational.

Last one for Me

Should be very easy - here again there is alway a lot of questions on this location.
Also the Orange Object is very important - What is used for?

On Island Time,

About lunch time on a weekday, probably having a burger and beer from Heidi's mini-grill. Do I need to tell you the Island and beach?

That is correct!

And the orange ball is part of the dinghy moorings.
I am pretty sure that dinghies at Waterlemon are NOT suppose to be beached
Maybe one of the locals can confirm.

Waterlemon (Leinster Bay) is one of the nicest snorkeling spots in STJ. Turtles and other sea life are abundant.

There is coral and other neat rock formations close to shore which makes it a great place for a beginner snorkeler. This fragile environment can also be easily damaged by a novice dinghy driver.

And of course the swim out to the cay! I will never forget snorkeling out to the rock looking down and seeing 100s if not 1000s of Starfish - Big Ones! The water is pretty deep as you swim out but you vision is unobstructed by the depth.

Please be careful and make sure Leinster Bay is on your list. It is just a short walk from the Annaberg Sugar Mill

In fact lets take a snokel at Waterlemon This short video really gives one a good idea what to expect!

I might have an unfair advantage since I live just out of view to the left side of the photo, and I get to see this beach all day long. Actually, the Good News is that you could caption this photo as: Living In De V.I. . . . Do you know why?

Bingo . . .

I'm still feeling badly about having you do all the hard work in the last contest and then you only getting credit for two correct answers. To make up for it, since I have the 2009 Calendar prize, if you need to know anything about a particular date in 2009 just ask and I'll look on the Calendar and tell you the answer. There I feel better already.

What a guy (gal?)!!! Only in the islands can you encounter such an act of fair play and generosity.

Now, to be really fair, I would hope that in August, when I'm next on St. Thomas, you'd meet me on the Crown Bay Marina dock with the calendar in hand and let me look at the pictures full sized, rather than the puny little view you get of the back cover on the VITrader website.

But, ok......full moon anytime between Aug. 8 and Aug. 22?

Margy, haven't had the pizza at Off the Wall, next time.

TomB - nice Waterlemon video!

IslandTime - I think the beer RockyDock and Fl Barrier Islander have with their burger on the beach in your photo might be from Joe's Beach Bar!

Sherri's sunset photo: is it Brewer's Bay?

Gerie - good job on your guess & for knowing that Alex does the Good News (on WSTA), the podcast on this site and is the host on the DVD!

PS: The daily podcast now includes a photo of the day. So you get to hear a little VI weather report, some news and some island music, plus a great photo. Tune in at Podcast from Paradise.

I just checked My Calendar - August 2009 Full Moon Meeting, no can do! Two days late and one answer short, your 2009 is off to a rocky start.

August 6 - Full Moon

August 6 - Penumbral Lunar Eclipse. The eclipse will be visible throughout most of the Americas, Europe, Africa, and western Asia.

August 12, 13 - Perseids Meteor Shower. The Perseids is one of the best meteor showers to observe, producing up to 60 meteors per hour at their peak. This year's peak occurs on August 13 & 14, but you may be able to see some meteors any time from July 23 - August 22. The waxing gibbous moon will provide some interference in the evening, but after it sets, the morning hours should provide some spectacular viewing opportunities. The radiant point for this shower will be in the constellation Perseus. Look to the northeast after midnight.

August 14 - Jupiter at Opposition. The giant planet will be at its closest approach to Earth. This is the best time to view and photograph Jupiter and its moons.

August 17 - Neptune at Opposition. The blue planet will be at its closest approach to Earth. This is the best time to view Neptune, although it will only appear as a tiny blue dot in all but the most powerful telescopes.

August 20 - New Moon

Sticking with Sherri's theme of sunsets here's a new one. Of course its somewhere in St. Thomas. 😉
