The biggest variety of groceries is at Starfish. They are the only market that has a deli case with fresh meats, prepared salads, and a "hot case". They have the biggest selection on most everything else. Their sister store, Starfish Gourmet (across the hall) has all of the beer and liquor (non offed in the regular market). They are located in the Marketplace....go up through town, past the bank (Subyway is no longer there), past the police station, through the new roundabout (KEEP LEFT) and turn on the third road that leads out of the circle towards Tamarind Inn, continue straight (do not stop at the stop sign, this is for right turn only) and the Marketplace is the large complex on the right just past the water treatment station. It should take you three minutes or so to drive there....and it isn't as confusing as it sounds! You will pay a premium for the one stop shopping at Starfish. They are the most expensive market. Have a great time!

Hey girl thank you 🙂 I knew you would be able to answer that. Thanks so much!! Subway is gone!! Oh my can you tell it has been two years since I have been there. What is there now? And a new roundabout. How exciting can't wait till march. Yes I know March the busiest tourist season. However had no choice, had to pick a week to spend when my son wasn't in school and I can't wait until summer to come. 🙂 We love your beautiful slice of heaven.

March is a nice time to be here!! Usually pretty cold everywhere in the states and still nice and warm here, without being hot. The Subway is painted red, white, and blue and it is supposed to be campaign headquarters on St. John for deJongh (if I am not grossly misinformed!). A lot has changed in the past couple of years. The roundabout will be the biggest "traffic" difference. People still don't have the hang of it yet, so just be careful. Just keep LEFT all the time and work your way around it. A lot of people like to take the direct route through it...but no accidents that I've heard of yet. There is also a new building between the police station and La Tapa. Not occupied yet, still under construction. It's rumored to be a new bank, with smaller vendor spaces below, so we will see. Several new places to eat as well! I would check La Plancha del Mar in the Marketplace (old China Shack spot). They have a Mon-Fri happy hour from 5-7 and lots of great food and service. Hope you have a great time while you are here!

Thank you for the info again! Can't wait. My 7 year told me he would rather go to St John anyday over disney! That tells you something. He said where else am I going to see real fish. LOL. He was referring to snorkeling vs an aquarium or something to that sorts! Thanks again for all your information. You are always so helpful to everyone here. It is appreciated!
