hello all,
can someone give me the name of the Grocery Store that is near the airport. We will be staying in Sapphire Beach and wanted to pick up some things on the way. I think I have read that there is a small market near Sapphire as well, I am thinking the larger one will have more selection and maybe better prices (?).
Thanks

There's a Pueblo in CA. The Marina Mkt in Red Hook near the ferries is a nice one and gets all fresh stuff on Tuesdays.

Enjoy,
Kathy

Turn right out of Airport and there's a Pueblo through the second set of lights (maybe 3rd set). Or a better place is Gourmet Gallery. Turn right out of airport then turn right at Niskey Center, bear right at yield sign and then turn left at black iron fence. Left into Crown Bay Marina. Expensive though.:$)

If you are staying at Sapphire there's NO reason to stop at that Pueblo near the airport. (that's Pueblo Subbase) Everything about that store is horrible, starting with the trash in the parking lot! Gourmet Gallery is an excellent choice. Marina Market is also a good choice, and it's closer to Sapphire and easy to find. I won't go to Pueblo Subbase and I live here!

I second Marina Market....good choices....decent quality.......even if it's a little more expensive than a larger supermarket. Plus it's very convenient to Sapphire.

Have a great trip!

If you're staying at Sapphire, you'll be stopping by Marina Market more then once. They probably will have almost everything you need and they have really good sandwiches.

There's nothing wrong with stopping by Plaza Extra in Tutu or Food Center in Red Hook. The prices at Marina Market are a killer even for tourists.

My recommendations are always Cost U Less and Plaza Xtra and if you take the Rte 38 option to Sapphire you'll go right by both. Cheers!

Definitely Food Center and there is a new one call Four Seasons in Lockhart Gardens by the small Kmart.

Those are all away from the airport. The closest to the airport are Pueblo and Gourmet Gallery. Personally I would go to Cost U Less if you have time. Or as they say on island "Cost U More".

They asked about the closest to the airport, but I know my suggestion was for one closest to where they are staying, especially since the Pueblo by the airport is skanky, and why would we want to subject a visitor to that pit!

We have shopped at Plaza Extra on our last two trips. It had everything we needed, groceries, sunscreen, toiletries and booze. A one stop shop!

Been to all mentioned and unless your buying a load of stuff I recommend the Marina Market in Red Hook. Saves a LOT of time and they have just about everything. 2 minute ride from Sapphire. It's a great little place. Sure you can save a buck or so on bottled water or whatever if you go to Cost u Less but that involves an hour or two of you precious Island Time. And if you Taxi, you can forget about saving the extra buck or two. Just ain't worth it to me.

Let's not forget Cost-U-Less and Price Smart. Between Plaza Extra and those 2, keeps it afordable and they ar cloe by to each other in the Tutu area.

I suggest Food Center. Although it is not by the airport, it is on the way to Sapphire. The prices are comparable to Plaza Xtra, and definitely lower than Marina Market. I found it to be super clean and well organized/stocked compared to Plaza Xtra (which seemed messy to me) I like Marina Market as well, but the prices are high as well as having limited stock. Something you may also want to keep in mind is how big your fridge/freezer is. I stayed at Sapphire in April/May, and the fridge/freezer in our unit was quite small. Being a family of four, we had quite a bit of groceries and it was a stretch trying to fit all of the perishables in it.
