Last year when we stayed in St John, we noticed the high price of meat. Is it cheaper to buy in St Thomas? Where do the locals do most of their grocery shopping? I don't recall seeing anyone on the ferry with grocery bags.
Thanks in advance.
Everything will be more expensive in the USVI since they are islands and it has to be shipped or flown in. Some things are cheaper on STT but the difference is mostly selection/variety. The 'locals' just learn to do more with less and are more selective as to what types of meats they buy.
If you want to have your mainland diet at prices more in line with what you pay back home, you will need to bring it with you.
