Hi,

We plan on being in St. Thomas on the 19th of this month. Our teenage boys will be joining us this time....we cannot wait till they see St. Thomas!!!

Where is the best place to go to get groceries?....I know our last 2 visits to St. Thomas was rather costly....any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated....look forward to hearing from you soon...

Thank you.
Glenda

Hi Glenda,

There are lots of places to get groceries. You can find some items at KMart. Pueblo and Plaza Extra are regular 'supermarkets' like you find on the mainland. There is another new one out by Compass Point - Food Centre which I found to be good and clean. For specialty and more 'gourmet' items try Marina Market in Red Hook or Gourmet Gallery in Havensite. There are also discount club type places (Cost U Less) for items in bulk. Plus, there are lots of small 'neighborhood' markets all around the island.

We usually shop either Plaza Extra or Food Centre and then hit Marina Market for specialty items.

We were in St. Thomas in August and I would suggest that you do not shop at the store in Havensight Mall. The prices there were very high. There is a big grocery store on the way to Red Hook on the left hand side of the road. We did not go in there because we had already shopped at the Havensight store, but on my next visit that will definately be my first stop. Good luck!

As noted, lots of big stores to pick up the main items from and it they dont have some special item the gourmet gallery might have it. Some of the smaller stores also have great delis for picnic foods on a beach day!

Cost U Less and Plaza Extra and a Pueblo are basically all allow one road in the Tutu Area...

Hello!

I'm getting married in May at the Marriott on St. Thomas.
I am looking for a good/inexpensive wine shop to purchase a case of Champagne for the reception. We will only be there for the wedding itself, so I'm hoping to find someplace close.

If anyone has any ideas, they would be appreciated.

Thank you!
Stephanie

Stephanie: You can get champagne by the case at Cost-U-Less for a good price. If you are looking for a specific hard-to-find label, call Randy's.
