Hey,

Are the grocery prices on St. John much higher than on St. Thomas? A group of friends and I are coming down for a week and we wondered about doing our shopping on St. Thomas before we come over on the ferry. A couple of years ago I remember being fairly shocked at how high the prices were in Cruz Bay at Starfish (?).

Thanks.

I've been encouraging visitors to save their receipts from food shopping STT and STJ so we can compare -but I don't think anyone has yet done that.

I think STT is much more reasonable, especially if you shop at Cost-U-Less. The Food Center prices on STT seem a little higher than Cost-U-Less, but not more than Starfish or Dolphin on STJ.

Pricing issues aside, I always find myself just wanting to baord the ferry and get on with my STJ vacation when I'm planning on being on STJ and iA enjoy Starfish and Dolphin Markets, despite the costs. It just goes with the territory. Thus, I don't stop to shop on STT, even when I had planned to before arriving.

WHen staying on STT, however, I am careful to shop in places where I know I can save $$$.
