Hi,

Can anyone recommend a grocery store near Sapphire Beach or Red Hook? I read that there is a market in Red Hook, but I was told it's a little pricey. Is there a better place to buy food, drinks and supplies? We're staying at Sapphire Beach and this is our first time on STT, so directions would be helpful too.

We're changing our latitude and attitude in 68 hours and 4 minutes!

Thanks,
-pk

you can check out the food center in frydenhoj area, next to the domino gas station.

The Marina Market at Red Hook was convenient and it really wasn't that bad in pricing at all. I was blown away at how much bottled water cost and bacon. Some things are high, some things are ALOT higher and other things were reasonable.

There's also another market further away from Red Hook, but by only a few miles that is larger.

We stayed at Sapphire and just found it more convenient going to the Marina Market. They also make sandwiches and hoagies to order.

Hi,

If you leave Sapphire and turn left, you will wind up in Red Hook shortly. Marina Market is on the right across from the ferry dock to STJ. If you continue going straight for another 3 or 4 minutes you will find the Food Centre on your right also. It is good for canned and bottled items, the fresh produce and meat sometimes are not the greatest.

If you leave Sapphire and turn right, follow that road past the enterance to Coki and up the hill in Smith Bay. When you come down on the other side, you will pass Tillet Gardens on your left and you will see Tutu Mall in front of you. Plaza Extra is there which is another super market type place. Next door is the KMart which is a great place to get low, low prices on your liquor.

Connie,

Mahogany Run is close to the entrance to Magens. Kind of a tweener between Tutu and Red Hook.....across the mountain to Tutu or around thecoast to Red Hook. I think a Mandahl Market is the closest thing to you, but I don't know how well stocked they are. It looks like a pretty small place when I drive by it.

Have to agree the produce at Food Center was terrible!! We did get cold cuts & they were great. Meats looked a little to rough for my tastes. We only wanted lunch items and didn't want to run all over town.
