Day 6; July 2nd – Been sitting on beaches for far too long. Develop boil the size of a quarter on my a$$. I tell no one.

Day 6; July 2nd – Just joking on above. Today we decide to just do some shopping in CA and relax at the Marriott pool/beach. HMG finally found a blue skirt and necklace she had been eyeing. ADD boy found a very cool skull and crossbones necklace at Pirate’s Landing (I think this is the name of the store) and a pirate t-shirt from Captain’s Corner. Kids had the $20 from Grandma just burning a hole in their pocket, so now that trinkets have been acquired all is well in the world. Here’s a funny pic with the painted donkey by the vendor plaza.

We again get subs from Jen’s Island Cafe (we are addicted to their bread now, and a $20 lunch for all is also very appealing) and head to the Marriott Pool. It is again, HOT! I know, Hello Captain Obvious! We watch the iguana feeding at 2:30, which is just too awesome. There must be 50 or so iguanas in that area. After cleaning up, we head to a nail shop (Ocean Nails maybe?) in Havensight to finally fix the nail that has been broken now for 4 days (sorry, I am a girl after all). Momma happy now. All are happy now. The manicurist just moved here from Green Bay, WI. I’m so jealous.

Blu and her crew are headed over to the Marriott Pool for happy hour and to wave goodbye to the two cruise ships in port today. We bring down our leftover painkillers from Born to Rhumb (thanks Kevin and Steph!). The kids decide to go swimming again (they are so deliriously happy!), and the adults sit on lounge chairs and proceed to tie a good one on! It’s now very dark, and we all need to eat. Blu suggests one of her faves, Indigo, which we had not yet been. Blu was kind enough to take our kids with them for the ride since they had a minivan. So, ODH and I enjoy 30 minutes to ourselves! Damn it if the left-hand driving takes so much concentration or the ride would have been more eventful ;-).

At any rate, Indigo ROCKS! The kids continued to swim and make plans to rule the world, while the adults (at a separate table - - yeah!) have mojitos. I had THE BEST bacon-wrapped filet (or could it be all the drinks I’ve had by now?), and ODH had a chile rilleno (sp). We continued with great conversations (little did we know we were having dinner with a NEWLY ENGAGED couple, Blu!!) Around 10:30 we said our good-byes, and HMG was very sad on the way back to not be able to see Gabbi² (Blu’s daughters) anytime soon. “You can always be pen-pals”, I say to hopefully cheer her up! However, HMG has no idea what this is (I forgot that hand-written letters are obsolete to this generation), so we vowed to get their address and pursue this “pen pal” arrangement that Mom has suggested. I don’t think I had a drink in my hand when I fell asleep this time. And I don’t remember what Tom Hanks movie was playing on the tube.

I’m even too tired to let the boil on my a$$ keep me awake ;-).

There is such a sense of peace about this man's face.
And, I swear, that little donkey is smiling.
Gives one hope for this crazy world.
Thanks, LLBL, you just proved we ALL make a Diff. People, and the critters together.

Dreamconch - Yes, the guy in the picture was so nice and laid-back (obviously). He only asks for a donation when you take a picture with the donkey. I kinda felt sorry for donkey though - - I'm sure PETA would have something to say about his get-up. Oh well. It felt good to give him a few dollars...
