We will be returning to St John for the third time this June. We have snorkeled all around St John and look forward to returning to our favorite spots. We are thinking of taking a full day trip out of St John. Keeping in mind that great snorkeling is primary interest, what day trip and to what area or island would you recommend? Thanks!
We went to Lovango Cay just north of STJ with Captain Phil Chalker on Wayward Sailor. He asked us what we wanted to see and took us there. Had several other options from there for snorkeling in caves, around a large rock outcropping or more gentile bay snorkel in the same area.
Tremendous display much more varied than on island.
I agree that Phil Chalker, captain of the Wayward Sailor, is the person you want. He's very knowledgeable, an interesting guy. He loves the Caribbean, likes to educate folks about the ecosystem, likes to take you to great snorkeling spots then get in the water with you to point things out.
Phil's isn't a party boat, but for someone who wants a serious snorkeling experience, he really stands out.
