Hello,
We are visiting St. Thomas for 5 days and wanted to find out where are the best places to get some affordable meals while we are out here. I ahve read about a couple of restaurants that sound great but we can't really afford to be spending $60 or more on one meal. If you are a locala nd have some great spots that have some good meals, please let me know!
Thank you
Dani
Hello Dani,
Tickles (Crown Bay)
Hook, Line & Sinker (Frenchtown)
Greenhouse (Downtown CA)
Pizza Amore & Deli Deck & Charlotte Tamales (Havensight)
Sibs (Mafolie/Northside)
Northdrop (Northside)
Bottoms Up (East End)
Also you can pick up pates, johnnycakes, chicken/rice (local food) from the roadside food vans. Usually there is one by Vendors Plaza in Charlotte Amalie. There is usually one or two by Brewers Bay. Sometimes one or two in Tutu by Fort Mylner.
Texas BBQ Pit is a roadside van, typically out in the early evening, usually on the waterfront apron just about accross from the Holiday Inn Hotel and they have a daytime location in Wheatley Center. They have great BBQ and its a good price.

Ah, ha! The best kept local secret is the Roy Schneider Hospital Cafeteria! Good food, plenty of it and cheap! People come from the offices around the hospital for their macaroni and cheese. Lots of West Indian specialties- curried chicken, stewed beef, souse, etc. but also great lasagne, spaghetti and meatballs. They make sandwiches to order and have a special Thursdays at lunch. If you are in the area for breakfast- they have a virtual smorgasboard- from eggs to order, crab cakes, veggie sausage, hot cereal, bush tea...
